Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

He tried to say there would be drugs all over the school playground. He then went on about his 17 year old son would be able to buy them in 6 months and that’s frightening. Oh, so the evil Polanski isn’t on about selling them in the school canteen then?

The stuck up moron on must assume drug dealers ask for ID and he’s clearly not aware of county lines. The better the police get at catching drug dealers the more dangerous the streets get. Also there is never a reduction in drug supply! Please make our current policy make sense?
No mention of school, playgrounds are not confined to them and along with parks are the places where dealers operate. The point about young adults being able to buy hard drugs legally in the absence of any Green policy is well made too and to suggest he isn't fully aware of the current situation is frankly ridiculous -

There’s a follow up book called Drug Wars by the same authors which is really good at laying out the policy stuff.

Still I think Polanski is a bit childish with his comments because he knows that the idea isn’t to have a free for all and legalise dealing, but he never gets into any proper detail about decriminalisation, special prescriptions etc. and so he allows Starmer to say things like he does above. Starmer knows what he’s saying is a dishonest characterisation of the Green’s likely policy, but they hadn’t officially published one so it’s an open goal.
Yeah, i suppose like a lot of the Greens stuff they need to come up with a clear policy. I did hear him be allowed to get into it a lot more during a recent interview where the presenter wasn’t just looking for a headline and he spoke very well making a lot of good points. It’s a bit like with inequality it’s far from black and white and would take a lot of cooperation and planning to implement.

I just find Starmer’s response so pathetic and anyone who has looked into the issue a bit would think what a prick. The depressing thing is though just coming out with shite without actually debating seems to work pretty well these days. Farage’s we will just stop the boats being case in point.

Whatever Gwynne did, he didn't force a boundary change.
No he didn't, but once it happened and he became my MP candidate Labour lost my vote.

Azfal may be a bid of a rum **** but generally no issue votimg LP with him after Kaufman

What's the official line of the Green party I know they support a Palestinian statehood, but do they still support a 2 state solution.

Ah right, so he thinks it’ll be like the ice cream man parked up by the playground ? Oh, but will you admit he contradicted himself by saying his son would be able to buy them in 6 months? Love how you only comeback on him not mentioning schools! Anything on the Labour tweet about Polanski?

I’m sure we’ve had many immigrants going back hundreds of years that arrived not speaking English.I’d say most countries have all had immigrants over the centuries that didn’t speak the language when they arrived no big deal. The British Empire made quite a habit of it.
Conquering armies very rarely bother about speaking to local languages except to ask directions, never mind fronting up the dosh for courses.

I can understand campaigning on Gaza among Muslims but who are they targeting on legalising drugs?
A lot of people who believe ghat the best way forward to deal with drugs is decriminalisatoon, regilation, rehibilitation from taxation.

After all they have only fully been illegal for just over 50 years before that they were available through doctors and hospitals from 1920s and before that had no legal status.

The aar on drugs was another bit of 60s US hysteria which engulfed the world, made Class As a criminal enterprise and wreaked havoc on society.

He said 'a few months time' - presumably after the Greens won enough seats to form a government and pass a hard drug legalization bill - it was rather vague tbh. He was silent as to the exact location of future sales to his son.

I know you will find this hard to believe but I carry no torch for Starmer, he's probably a gonner in May but it'll be worse if Red Ange gets the gig - an open door for Reform.

Remember the Opium wars at all?

Didn't mean the armies, it was those that settled and stayed on the land, the army had taken, doubt many of those land owners and farmers bothered learning the local language, if they did they wouldn't speak it when they arrived.
How many of those leaving the UK to settle in Spain or France went speaking the languages? I think the vast majority that come not speaking English work hard learning it and ensuring their children are educated and speak English, whereever in he world they have come from..

He meant in six months when his son would be old enough to buy legal class A drugs.

No,because he made a point of his son being 17 and a half. Therefore meaning at 18 he’d be able to buy drugs(no I’d required at the moment Keir).

Fair enough if you’re a fan of his. I despise the man because i don’t think he’s got any morals. What is it you like about him? Don’t get me wrong i wish Labour were doing well and tried to represent the people again and got out of Israel and their big business contributors corrupt pockets

There's a reason why in English start, commence and begin are synonyms. Immigration.

I see now what the "few months" was referring to namely his son reaching 18 and becoming classed as an adult.
I've just told you what I think of Starmer btw, I'm not a fan but the alternatives are probably worse.
