Sheffield Wednesday thread

Water off a ducks back m8

The happy times are the ones we struggle with ;)

Roll on Ashley and -15 :(
I’ve said it before. I hope to God you don’t get that parasite bastard Ashley. That really would be the end !!

RE. United playing that song. We had it a few times and I remember our last top flight game St Johnstone played ‘We ll meet again’ as our players did a lap of their stadium we had sold out! I had a wee laugh at the time but I can’t say I’ve lost any sleep over their own fall from grace.

The good times will come again for Wednesday. Remember it’s the support who are the club and it will be them that drives things forward

Cheers m8

I agree the clubs are the support, we are there through it all. Everybody else is just passing through

Just asking but, is there any sympathy from Sheff Utd fans towards your plight or is the rivalry as bad as City/utd where we would be laughing until we died if it was them in your position?

Would it be such a bad thing if Ashley took over at least it would be stable
It would be a fucking disaster!! He ll take everything out the club and once there’s no more to take he will drop them.

I know. I’ve experienced it first hand!

They don't seem to handle people from outside South Yorkshire bringing new ideas in. It's either Bassett's/Wilders/Warnock's/Heckingbottom's up n at em ale house football or the drop. Very backward club in that respect particularly.
You mean Dave Bassett the famous Yorkshireman from Middlesex?

But what is left to take ?? You're rock bottom without a pot to piss in
Everything. He will get all the rights to branding and merchandise and sell it all taking all the profits for himself and the club itself will get pennies. It’s what he does!!

When he had Rangers he took 96p in the £ for all merchandise profits and the club got 4p in the £.

Once he has taken all he can get he will fuck off leaving the club in an even worse position. It’s imperative the support stay together and do everything to keep that parasite away from this great club

Like said, Sheffield Wednesday don't have a pot to piss in, Rangers were a mess but had a loyal crowd of around 50.000 fans, Also the rules are different now and the EFL have to protect the club with any new owners

Acquisition of Control & Owners’ & Directors

Look its bleak for Sheffield Wednesday, but if they are not careful, it could and can be worse and playing in the rock bottom in non league

Mike Ashley could not care any less about Sheffield Wednesday. All Mike Ashley cares about is making money for Mike Ashley. He has no interest in any football club if it’s not going to make him money.

I know what they are going through. I know in desperate times you want to believe that a Mike Ashley is going to see the sense in making your club successful and make money that way!

I’ll give you another example of that bastard bleeding a club dry. He sent 5 loanees from Newcastle United to Rangers so we paid their wages but they were all injured and I think only one made more than a couple of appearances.

I hope Wednesday get through this but Ashley is not the answer.

As for fit and proper test. Obviously I am not reading through all the small print but there are many examples of dreadful owners throughout the game

The only town or city where there might be some sympathy for a neighbour's plight would be Nottingham if County were in the shit.
I was at the swamp in 74 and thought it was hilarious once I'd got back to the bus.
I was also at Hillsborough when we drew there in 1994 and the crowd erupted when it was confirmed the Blades had gone down.

Im lucky (if that even exists) that i dont live or work in Sheffield, so the Blades i come across are fine with me.

Although that also may be down to me not dishing it out when they f*ck up.

Just a grin or a warm glow to make me feel better

Never forgotten how a rustle in 3 sides of the crowd turned into a murmur into cheers and a crescendo after new came through that Chelsea had beaten Sheffield United (coming back from 1-2 to win 3-2).

Heard more than a few sympathetic Blaiiiides on Radio Sheffield's Football Heaven phone in to be fair. Of course most of their fans wanted them relegated but talking to several I know, not one of them wanted them out of business though I can imagine many others who would. It's rivalry which I get. Wouldn't shed a tear myself if the rags or Liverpool or Arsenal went out of business (never going to happen) but it's not the same- Wednesday aren't behind trying to finish the Blades like the red cartel are with us.
