US & Israel attack Iran

And if this doesn’t end well, I predict not a single one of the posters celebrating it today will be back to offer their mea culpa.

Accountability starts at home.
Given our populist parties have supported this, I’m sure they’ll all be more than accommodating in accepting asylum requests from Iranians on dinghies should it go wrong.

Did Iran invade the U.S. because it wanted sovereign control over North Carolina which has “always been” Iranian?
Well I have edited my post since to give it more context.

Again, i'm not interested in Trumps reasoning. My focus and interest is on how this has given the Iranians a chance to change their destinies, whereas before they had none. There are those who support the Shah, those who seek a return to a constitutional monarchy and those who want a full democratic republic. The younger generations are ready, hungry to make that change. They have TikTok, Twitter accounts, followers, they dance and sing and express themselves in ways the regime abhors, and have done so defiantly.

I put my trust and faith in them. I had zero trust and faith in the regime and it's followers that continued to subjugate, murder and imprison their own people. Those same followers who might find a little retribution coming their way in the coming weeks.

I’ll admit being stupid for a lot of stuff, I won’t admit it for not knowing what fucking “goodly” means. That’s the worst word I’ve ever seen written down.
Try 'goodliest'.

Yep, it's real. Or was.

Again, I know all this already. You haven’t thought about anything other than the visceral reaction of those who are excited about the overthrowing of their leader; how or why or what happens next is not important to you in this moment (nor theirs for tonight). That’s fine, and I totally get it.

But if what comes next is worse or 20x more people suffer globally as a consequence, I expect you to be here saying “I didn’t think it through. I celebrated too early.” But I know you won’t be. I’ve been down this path so many times before with so many. This isn’t a prediction — it’s a guarantee.

But that’s whatevs — the bigger issue is that the men who orchestrated this likely haven’t thought through the consequences, especially my President. I have 40 years of data that proves that he almost never has, other than how it impacts him of course. So I’ll restrain my joy, as logic and experience suggest I should.

That's a little overly dramatic, isn't it?
And also rather presumptuous.

I trust then, if things do turn out great for the Iranian people, in turn you'll be on here saying " I should have had faith in the Iranian people, I was far too negative."?

Or maybe, just maybe, we shouldn't start using hindsight and 'told you so's over matters as important as this. I guarentee, those Iranians celebrating around the world right now, are thinking the same as I am. I know now what I know now; an individual who i've wanted removed from a position of power and authority, has been (allegedly).

That should not mean anyone should have the gall to say to them, me or anyone else, later on down the line, to hold some retrospective guilt over what i'm feeling now should things turn sour. Otherwise, I can easily say you have no right to share in their joy should things turn out great. But i'm not going to do that. I'll feel the exact same way should a British made missile, fired from Ukraine make Putin take a long dirt nap. Que sera, sera.

More than we have now? There’s huge numbers of Iranians refugees/ people leaving. Thousands being killed by their government or locked up as well

So other than doing nothing, what do you suggest?
I'm not suggesting nothing, just saying what a shitty place the world is in,
The world leaders don't know what to do so you expecting a random city fan on the Internet to know the answers is rather silly.

“The ends justify the means” is a bad way to run a world, mate.

You can afford not to care nor worry about possible negative ramifications of this action. It’s a nice luxury to have.

In the short term quite possibly, but taking out Khamenei and effectively martyring him could have far reaching consequences down the line. A prominent Muslim religious leader of a country has been assassinated by infidels. Khamenei’s enemies will (understandably) rejoice and his followers will seek revenge and/or his death will be weaponised by those who seek to replace him.

We have no idea how this will play out, but let’s face it this is a regime change war and history shows they rarely end well and often have nasty, unintended consequences.
The younger generation of Iran are the empowered here, they can thrive without this despot regime, there’s a good chance they’ll embrace this opportunity.

Before the uprising in 1979 “Persia” was a growing economy, although Islamic in identity (like the UAE) it was a place of opportunity. A friend of mine (English) was a Dancer in a nightclub in Tehran, she loved it but had to get out pronto after the Shah was deposed.

The UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc had proved Islam can work alongside a secular population, something the hardliners in Iran could never accept, I hope it ends well for the people of Iran/Persia.

Well said, there’s some posts that are absolutely baffling, this one is nail on the head.
