It might get worse before it gets better but when you see Iranians all around the world rejoicing in this after 4 decades of oppression and murder from him and his predecessor, there is a feeling that there could be a day soon where they are free from it.

My Iranian friend I’ve worked with for 15 years might have the chance to go back and live in the country he loves but could not live there for decades because of a regime he hates.

Little bit disingenuous.

One is people celebrating the end of an evil regime (as they see it) in their home land, and the other is a politician not wanting to see a school full of kids be bombed.

Ps: I’m not well informed enough to know for sure if it’s an evil regime - it looks like it was.

It is incredible how people that started the day shocked by news of a sudden escalation of a highly complex and delicate situation - less than 24 hours and 3 trump 160 character simplistic chest pounding tweets later, are all celebrating it like some basic VAR decision with little consequence. What has changed other than the odd online echo.

There is so much more to it and the consequences are yet to even start to emerge, never mind the long term and wider effects which we won't even begin to register for some time.

“Might”, “feeling”, “soon” — that’s a heck of a post-regime governance strategy. It’s okay; I’m sure someone in the current forward-thinking U.S.-Israel alliance has thought through all of the contingencies and ensured minimal suffering of the citizenry, plus protection to the world from any current military counterstrikes or long-term terrorist threats. After all, they’ve both demonstrated that they carefully consider all the consequences of their actions, especially those on the innocents caught in the crossfire. And of course a massive military strike was the only possible option for regime change — any diplomatic solution was right out — and launching such an attack was precisely what the current U.S. government promised the entirety of its support base they would always do (and were elected with that a key part of their platform).

The ends always justify the means, and consequences are always thought through and never unintended.

It’s the opposite of “incredible.” It’s precisely what one would expect in an age of dopamine hits and instant, visceral gratification.

You mean like millions of refugees coming to Europe as Iran collapses into civil war, I mean it’s not like it’s happened before! Fortunately for the usa and Israel they’ll see non of this or care.

People were executed or imprisoned for questioning it. They have 'Morality Police' roaming the streets ready to beat or rape young women for being dressed immodestly. Execution for consumption of alcohol. Persecution of ethnic and religious backgrounds. The printing, sale or reading of the Bible or non-Islamic texts is illegal and punishable by torture. To name but a few.

Yeah, It was an evil regime.

It certainly is mate. Back in 1979 they used the left and progressives to help them get into power then executed 30,000 of them once they’d used them for their goals and took control with draconian Islamist rule. Over the decades they’ve executed people for showing dissent, heavily discriminated against Kurds and Turkics, committed genocide against Baha’is, hanged the non-religious, shot Zoronastrians, imprisoned journalists, suppressed progressive thought, beaten women in the street for refusing to cover their heads in public or for dancing… then recently killed another 30,000 of their own people for rising up against their regime they’d had enough of.
 
I would like to see the media giving more clarification in their articles about the protestors instead of just 'pro-Iranian'.
Pro-Ayatollah and anti-Ayatollah would be better descriptions as many pro-Iranian protestors hate the late Ayatollah and are for Iran.

It’s quite bemusing how people across Europe who support the sort of tactics, then complain when they see refugees trying to get into their countries.

Trump, and his acolytes, tell us that Europe is soft on immigration, yet they’re the cunts that force it.
