Breaking fast during football

Not sure why the game has to stop,.Just throw them a bottle when there's a natural break in play. Eg.when there's an injury. There's someone rolling around like theyve been shot every 5 mins in the modern game.

This is probably where I am. I’m no fan of Islam, I don’t want it’s ideology becoming a central theme in our lives in this country, but I am a fan of Cherki, RAN, Marmoush etc. and they needed a drink, Leeds agreed to it, so get on with it.

Ultimately two of them, not long after, did a lovely bit of play to get us the winner so purely from that view, it’s a positive from my perspective.
That’s a fair and sensible comment. It was the right thing to do for player welfare but it did feel like a bit of a performance in the stadium. But, as some have said, not as annoying as Arsenal’s relentless fake time-outs.

Felt a bit performative with the purposeful stoppage of play and putting it on the screen. ‘Ooh look at us, we observe some bollocks for some made up spaghetti armed jelly man who lives behind the Moon’… as silly as Brazilians always wearing t-shirts telling us all that they ‘Belong to Jesus’.

Ramadan breakfast isn’t a stage performance that football needs to stop for. Just sling them a drink when someone goes down injured and don’t make such a big deal out of it.
Stupid to disrespect peoples faith and religion like that.

Not particularly religous my self but many are.

A funny take.

Before the game all talk was of Leeds and their record under the lights etc etc.

The game gets stopped for "fast break" at sunset :-)

PED's in the water. Charge incoming

I’d rather religion and politics was let out of football tbh. And that’s been the position for a while, until it doesn’t suit (FIFA peace prize, etc)

But this is an obvious welfare issue. Same as water breaks in very hot games, etc.

Announcing it on the big screen don’t really help but I understand why it was in a way (avoid accusations of tactical timeout).

Someone did post something interesting the other day - waiting until half time to break fast? Is it a requirement of the religion to break fast at the exact time of sundown or is waiting a bit permissible.

Well I like to think people are allowed their views on here. It's a forum for a discussion isn't it? Not an echo chamber.

Zero tolerance to bigotry in my view.

If someone says they like the thought of abducting children, we shouldn't be like "Fair play, that's your view but I accept it - now let me buy you a drink".

Bigotry (and racism) needs to go back into decline and we need to listen to the lessons of the past.
