Fair enough. Everybody on here is a dilettante when it comes to politics; unless, unbeknownst to the forum, we have a poster with a doctorate in International Relations. If in-depth knowledge were required to post in this sub-forum, I'd wager nobody would be informed enough to post here.

But the internet can still be a great tool to inform on a foundational level. The issue is, it's become a breeding ground for misinformation and most people can't be arsed to sift through the misinformation to get to the credible stuff.

Starmer has managed to do what he’s done throughout his tenure, flop about in the middle and piss everyone off.

Those that didn’t want the UK involved at all are angry at him for allowing the US to use our bases. The US, and those who wanted Britain to get involved, are angry at him for being too slow to allow it.

How does he manage it every time?

We human beings have this unique ability to convince ourselves that we are the good guys, it's probably a survival mechanism otherwise how could we live ourselves? Having done the convincing we actually believe it. So Trump, Netanyahu, Hamas, ISIS and the Ayatollah will all be utterly convinced that they are in the right and it is the 'other' who is wrong. The truth is probably that everyone is in the wrong but our egos will not let us believe it.

I think it was a good point. There are people who do not believe that Israel should exist and that by default can only mean that they want to eliminate Israel from the map given the fact that Israel does exist? Or do they believe in some bizarre reality where Israel should not exist whilst at the same time yes it should exist? Hmm.

These same people align with Iran because Iran too does not want Israel to exist and so they are quite clearly defending Iran's objective to acquire nuclear weapons to potentially enact that reality. It makes no sense that the likes of the Green Party can oppose nuclear weapons here but is in favour of nuclear weapons for Iran.

Iranian government members literally chanted in their Parliament death to Israel, death to America and death to England and then burnt the American flag mere months ago. Are these the kind of people who are peaceful and should be trusted with nuclear weapons? Probably not!

I don't really like the interventionist approach but would the Middle East be better off without religious zealots armed with nuclear weapons with a clear plan on their use against an ally? I'd say so.

No that’s not what he was saying mate. He was just saying that the line of succession that was understood to be in place is now moot as they killed nearly 50 of the top people.

In trying to be sensible in his approach he’s somehow annoyed every one. I don’t think he’s done a lot wrong but his stock has somehow come down, I actually feel a bit sorry for him in this situation.

Muscat is open and safe. The alternative is to come via Saudi. Or alternatively when the airspace is open, which would suggest it is not an active war zone, if they make use of government sponsored transport then they should have to pay towards it.

Easy for Trump to criticise Starmer but those Iranian weapons can reach the UK and I don’t think we have an iron dome?
