You're right, it would let the opposing team think that they'll have more of their players in our box for the corner. And they'd be right.

I meant two or more smaller players of ours on the half way line, ready for a breakaway.

Whether the substitution worked is a different conversation but it was obvious that Pep was hoping that a bit of pace could catch Leeds on the break and wanted someone who could run with and carry the ball.

I'd agree with this in principal - at the end of the day we got a great result against a very motivated team - so you could say all contributed to that. He has been out and getting back to the rhythm of games does take time.

The fact is one thing that is easier to do when you are fresh off the bench is to actually run a bit more and get yourself in positions to receive the ball to take pressure off the back line. Savinho came on and ghosted about for his first 20 mins or so and for me that is the problem. He is no doubt talented but seems to not have the heart to put in the hard yards to help his team and endear himself to the fans - if only he had Bernardo's will and passion.

I don't think Pep had as many options as people think - Phil is in a bad place at the moment, Doku is easing his way back, Nico whereas great defensively is not the player to come on up front and hold onto the ball. as you say I think Pep thought Savinho gives us an outlet to cause them some problems - sadly though as I said he was way too passive and not even getting into the channels to offer an easy pass out.

Another performance that will not do his long term future here any favours.

He will. Don’t worry. Came back after months but he has to hit a 10/10 performance right away in a position he has never played while being pushed by the opposition.

I actually don't think he is a bad player, he just isn't suited to this modern English game.

Antony was the same. A La Liga footballer who just cannot handle the physicality of the English game.

Assuming Pep stays on for next season, I doubt that Savinho will leave. Its going to be a tough job in our sales and loans department as it looks like Trafford, Ake, Stones, Philipps , Akanji, Kovacic will all be heading off to pastures new and also finding best solutions for Reis , Nypan, Echeverri, Alleyne, McAidoo, Mfuni etc.
Contract renewals, particularly Rodri, also need to be sorted out
There are several that will be going before him.
The following season after next may be a totally different situation though if a new manager arrives.
We would probably be open to offers if suitable ones came in.

Not saying that he should have hit a 10/10 performance yesterday at all. That’d be a stretch for any player but especially for Savinho who isn’t capable of a 10/10.
 
About as Savinho as Savinho can be.

Was actually lively, attacked his full back and had some joy. However, I don’t remember a cross finding a City shirt and then has his moment at the end and of course hits it the one place he couldn’t.
 
Do we have some sort of deal with sponsors that we have to have a Brazilian in the squad?

Because outside of that for the life of me, I can't understand how he is here and how we turned 70m down last summer
 
He was never going to score lads, you're foolish if you thought he would.
 
Did I watch the same performance as the rest of you? Even in his 15 minute chemistry he was basically MOTM. What on earth are you guys talking about?

They will hate regardless. It’s insane. Created 4 chances in 10 minutes. Had 0.2 seconds to get a shot off in a crowded space while the forest player just had a good clearance. Yet he’s the reason
