Nottingham Forest (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

A bit lacklustre there tonight. Forest were quite well organised but we didn't cause them anywhere near enough problems. A bit of a clanger dropping those points.

I saw parts today with Rodri, Dias and Guehi. But Dias and Guehi were slow in getting back to position. Donna was part of the game today which was great. If we can get that diamond correct again then we have the basis to build around.
I've never been a big admirer of Dias and i have a feeling we won't get ballon dor lvl Rodri back. I rate Guehi, he is a very clever and intelligent defender with decent pace and Donnarumma is a very good shot stopper. Haaland is one of the best goal scorers, but not that good overall. All in all, this team needs some very good players in and huge improvements from some players.

I think the way Pep sees football and wants to play it, requires very good and intellingent players with good techinal ability in almost every position. Yes other teams know better how to play against it , but he just doesnr have that quality in this team anymore. Think about his Barcelona, Bayern or his best City teams. Great quality all over the pitch with good players coming off the bench to add some spark.

Indeed but it's down to him to look at the players he has and understand if they can carry out what he wants or not and then make adjustments to how we go about things if they can't.

But maybe that's too much to ask. Every manager has the way they like to play and that's pretty much set in stone. That's not a bad thing, the last think you want is an indecisive manager.

The reality is that I think even if we adopted an approach that our players would seem more suited to, it wouldn't guarantee anything because I think the depth of our current squad only makes us good enough to be about where we already are. One might argue its only Pep's presence and know now making us contenders still. We won't know until Pep has gone.

With or without Pep, we need some more added quality and I mean real world class quality, not just good solid players picked off from other clubs lower down the league.

Sorry but I think I will be upsetting a lot of you but I cannot put all the blame on the ref for our two points dropped.
We shot ourselves in the foot and not for the first time this season, due to our continued awful display of not being able to score more than the opposition, but moreso our inability of keeping a clean sheet,
Personally I do not place all of our problems on our defenders but more on our midfielders who don`t help out our defence.
Time and time again we sat back and relied on our midfield to stop the Forests easy forwards in to venturing into our box.

Anyone having a go at Savinho is a loon.
We were flat all game and lacked intensity.
They scored from 2 chances and we were denied by the ref. A combination of factors and it happens, frustrating though it really is.
He missed an open net in the last minute.

He could even have poked it to Haaland if he wasn’t confident he had the space to place it (he did btw).

If it drops to literally any other player it’s a goal.

Not going to start acting the tart because we didn't get the three points in a title race with still plenty of games left to play. For the most part we played ok. Not read all the posts and I am a Foden fan boy so I'm going to be little defensive but he was ok today - maybe should have got closer to Anderson for his goal but I thought first half in particular he was getting in good positions and trying to speed the game up when needed.

Forest defended pretty well overall I thought. Semenyo disappeared second half and I'd have subbed him off but he his a numbers guy right now even when his performances don't match. Savinho did decent went he came on despite me joking that we'd decided to play with 10 when he came on. We gave away some easy passes and awkward clearances from the back two and generally played a little too safe. The kind of game Silva frustrates me in because he refuses to shoot or be creative. Haaland should have got himself involved more but we had decent control through that second half except for the goals we conceded. Every team gives up chances so we need to get past the idea that no one should have shots against us.

We win that game 75% of the time with the ball that evaded two of ours on the goal line in the first half and with the clearance in the final seconds. Can't comment on the penalties as I've not seen them back but the players only really seemed to shout for the third one on Rodri. However after seeing the stuff that gets given every week in other games I'm going to assume we were robbed by VAR.

I'm seeing comments about us blowing the league and emergency and I don't think that hysteria serves us. Still plenty of season left and now is the time for cojones and not b*llocks

Did you see Pep and the players at the final whistle ?? Pep straight down the tunnel, one hand in his pocket, looking cheesed off .... the players barely offering handshakes, nobody smiling, just looking down ..... they all knew what tonight's results meant, and especially our own result, they knew they had let down the fans ..... the seasons games are now fast running out, and only an unlikely Arsenal collapse is gonna open the door again.

And you're absolutely right about our failure to shut Andersons shot down before he struck it .... City players SHOULD have been charging at him and throwing their bodies in front of that, any way they could, and as fast as they could .... but it just didn't matter enough to them.

Quite incredulous some of the posts on here , slagging off the team , players and manager , actually they fought 100% for all the game , we know we dont have the quality of previous teams , but dont give them shit for not giving 100% every game that is total bollocks.
We are only competing because the league has levelled out , any of the teams in this league can give you a game this season , there is no stand out team , unlike when we dominated for years and blew teams away.
Next season will be Pep's last at the club and i think these players will peak next year and gel as a team , but i am not writing off this season , far from it, we have come from up to ten points behind against far better teams than the Goons , keep the faith.

Poor and disappointing. Go 1-0 up and don't show enough desire and push to get the second as we should have, let Forest get back into the game. Same again after our second goal. Atmosphere was building after Rodri's goal and we shut it down by not pushing for a third, letting Forest score from the break. Started playing with wingers again for the first time in months with Doku and Savinho, but sort of went back to our old passing the ball around the box rather than into the box with them out wide. We're not going to score without getting the crosses in and taking the shots. Very disappointing but have to keep pushing. Onto Newcastle.

It’s got to the point now where I don’t expect Haaland to score. There was a time I’d expect him to score a hat trick

It’s really bad. I’m sure he’ll get back to his best at some point but if he doesn’t start scoring we’re not winning anything this season.

He’s scored about 3 non-penalty goals since Christmas.

Don't think it was lack of desire or effort
It's just we're not good enough
I disagree.
I think that’s exactly what we lack.
We’re outworked by nearly every team we face.
We have good possession stats cos we fuck about with it in the middle and teams let us have it there.
We certainly don’t play quick football.
It’s slow pointless and it’s shite.
We do have quality in the squad and if it wasn’t for moments of individual quality we’d be much worse off.

ill go and read how are rags third in this shit league thread

No negativity from me , didnt get the rub of the green , blatant penalty on Haaland VAR checked within 10 seconds , we know the agenda here , Forrest scored two good goals against the run of play , we created enough to win the game, anyone throwing the towel in regarding the league , need to look at our history
No such thing as a lost cause and the Goons will slip up because they cant score enough goals , we beat Palace in the game in hand and stuff the Goons and its game on , grow some backbone , all to play for , dont forget we are up against the biggest bottlers this league has ever seen
Keep seeing this about Arsenal being bottlers, but we've got within a couple points twice now this season and fluffed our lines. Once in the New Year when we drew 3 in a row and tonight. Maybe its us who ain't got the minerals at the moment?
