Nottingham Forest (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We brought this on.

Stop with the crying for a penalty that if ever given against us we'd lose our minds over saying yet again we were cheated.

We deserve to drop points when we play like we've had our balls lopped off at the half

Lax, complacent - no real sign that it mattered.

Erl if not 100% should not have started.

Phil playing like he's scared of his own shadow and making mistakes all over the shop. Swagger is gone. Belief is gone. Gutted it's going that way for him.

Bernie with about the most fight along with Rodri and Guehi.

Will miss that little underrated bastard when he inevitably leaves and realize if he had even a half yard more pace he'd be mentioned amongst the current and recent greats.

Cherki and Semenyo good for the most part. No serious slag except I'd like to see Cherki trying less to win fouls with his "roll like a Brazilian" then pop right up technique.

RAN a few decent spells. Looking more confident but still convinced the best in him would be seen in a 3 center half set up.

Donna beaten by a brilliant MGW blind back flick and great Elliot Anderson strike so can't 100% call him out for not making the stops when it wasn't him who put him in that position to have to make them.

Too little to rate Doku and really wasn't on long enough to get up to speed... If he's even up to speed.

Putting on Savinho when we were desperate for a goal is a cue to collect your things and leave early doors. He's not good enough and how Marmoush wasn't a better option even in his poor vein of form makes me wonder.

Dias still looks like he's miles off his old best and that once Gvad is back he's easily 3-4th choice.

Nunes well off it- can't put a finger on it and, no- I'm not rewatching that match.

I prolly left somebody out but TBH i couldn't be arsed as I'm tired of the lack of effort and equally tired of the fans who can still come away from this one and first sentiments uttered are "it wasnt our fault."

Bottom line to win the title:
1) win all games,
2) Arse have even a draw in the rest of theirs which I fully expect...

City are champions.

caveat:

We have to beat Arsenal.

Get a grip pal.
He scores goals.
The team.need to adjust to him
Get a grip? He isn't scoring.of late, and why do they need to adjust to him? How about he adjusts to them? Watch when we do actually put a ball in the box, he never gets across his man, he is to static in my.opinion

Its been coming in the PL games
Fortunate to win at Anfield, fortunate to beat Newcastle, very fortunate to beat Leeds and tonight threw it away v Forest.
Only good PL performance recently was Fulham at home and even then we had our usual awful second half
Our first half at Anfield was the best we’ve ever played there.

That performance and many others like it this season is the reason we won’t win fuck all with this current squad.
You’re going for a title and that’s the performance you put in?
Appalling.
Mentally weak, piss poor work ethic and lazy.
Though we tried with 10 minutes to go, why we can’t do for a whole 90 minutes is a fucking joke as well.
Lazy.
Far too many performances like this.
Just doing the absolute minimum.
When I think what we were, absolute mentality monsters.
Now we’re a team of shit houses.
We look piss poor in probably the worst ever premier league.
Savinho created and looked more of threat in 10 minutes than the rest of attackers combined.
Don’t worry though we’re world class at playing sideways pointless slow drab football.
I ain’t even angry anymore.
I’ve excepted this squad doesn’t have the heart, desire or fight to win a league title.
They can’t even manage to win two halves of football most weeks.
Shameful what we’ve become.

Can use those words for the majority of performances this season. We don’t deserve to be near the top of the league, never mind in a title race. It’s shit football. Proper, proper shit.

There’s nothing to it. It’s essentially hopeful football by boring the opposition to death.

Pass sideways then backwards then sideways again then backwards again. Fucking rubbish.

Frustratingly, the team that will win the league play worse football than us. How utterly depressing.
Yeah and when teams finally come out with intensity in the second half and try to press and attack us, all that passing is gone. Cant put a string of passes together, cant find a way to counter attack and pressing upfront has been sh1t for the last 2-3 seasons.

League gone (if it was ever on), useless cnuts
We were still alive and kicking after the excellent win at Leeds, the mood was good, and the ball was in our court, if we could win all our games ..... but after tonight the ball is now firmly in Arsenal's court, and unless they have a complete collapse, the title has now gone.

Post-match exchange with my brother, who was at the game while I watched it on TV.

He also asked if any of the pen calls might have been one…

“Nah, not really tbh. Haaland tried to buy the first! If the ref had given it, VAR wouldn’t have overturned it…which is why refs don’t give them!!

Second one, he was being held, but got released pretty quickly, but by then Haaland couldn’t reach the ball.

The Rodri one??? Rodri got the shot off and Anderson had a high boot and caught him after the shot. Seen ‘em given a thousand times, but not for City in the dying minutes!! Another “non-call, see what VAR thinks” moment!!

Can’t believe the melee at the end, where Savinho has a clean shot on goal and Murillo is in the way!!

Last kick of the game could have won it!!

SOOOO WASTEFUL, but that’s been the story of the season. THIS City team shouldn’t even be in with a shout, esp given the second half collapses we have faced, but the league is so competitive and NO-ONE is running away with it!!

It’s Arsenal’s to lose now! City have a harder run in, and we need them to not only drop more points than us, plus lose at the Etihad, which I’m not sure they will!

Until they scored, in the second half we had 94% (NINETY FOUR!!) possession!!

How ironic that their two goals were scored by players we have been linked to!!! Anderson’s goal was a belter. Curved it around the defender into the bottom corner…but Foden left him to go it!

I’m not sure Foden gets a look in as a starter for the rest of the season and it’s impossible to see him on the plane for England this summer.

Maybe a rest this summer will do him the world of good, because he certainly needs something!!

Not sure why Nunes was switched to LB, but I guess RAN needed taking off and he didn’t fancy Ake against their speed?! Ake was coming on before the second goal.

Nunes was poor.
Foden was poor.
Cherki threatened to be decent but didn’t follow through.
Doku did nothing when he came on.
Haaland got a little bit of service but no clear chances.
Semenyo pops up with a bit of brilliance and works hard but goes missing.

All looked a little rushed and disjointed around the box against their back 10, but that’s nothing new.

Not too many clear chances, but there is NO WAY we should have drawn that game 2-2, when it should have been 3-0 at HT, some refs would have given us at least 1 of the penalty shouts, and they really only had 3 chances on target and grabbed 2 goals. Where have we seen that before?”
-/-/-/-

Yes, Pep will take each game as it comes, but I think he’s going to be happy with CL football, will play his best team in the Carabao Cup Final to try to get one over on Arsenal and win silverware, and then concentrate on the CL if we can get past Real Madrid.

We have made those season’s PL too hard for ourselves through our profligacy and inability to close out a game…even against teams in the bottom third!
Excellent post mate

It’s boring to watch us most of the time. But not as boring as Arsenal.

With Oreilly playing or Anderson played for us instead of them, we win comfortably.

Top 4 and a domestic cup will be a decent return this season. Though PL and CL are there for the taking but we aren’t up to it yet.

That's the story of our season. We've been good in dispatches.

A lot of our wins we have been very lucky as you say. Quite a few i would say the opposition shouod have won.

We can't say that the other way round. When we've dropped points, in quite a good handful of our games, we can have no complaints. Like tonight. We didn't do enough. We deserved to come away with a bloody nose.

We can't keep expecting to get 3 pts with a 1 goal lead.
Full stop.
We miss Kev massively
Exactly what I've said but the happy clappers though it was a good football because hey, we got 3 points! Well not now we didn't because our football was embarrassing just like in the previous 2 games when we got lucky.
As soon as we get a 1 goal lead, our players start behaving like we're 5-0 up or something.

Not going to start acting the tart because we didn't get the three points in a title race with still plenty of games left to play. For the most part we played ok. Not read all the posts and I am a Foden fan boy so I'm going to be little defensive but he was ok today - maybe should have got closer to Anderson for his goal but I thought first half in particular he was getting in good positions and trying to speed the game up when needed.

Forest defended pretty well overall I thought. Semenyo disappeared second half and I'd have subbed him off but he his a numbers guy right now even when his performances don't match. Savinho did decent went he came on despite me joking that we'd decided to play with 10 when he came on. We gave away some easy passes and awkward clearances from the back two and generally played a little too safe. The kind of game Silva frustrates me in because he refuses to shoot or be creative. Haaland should have got himself involved more but we had decent control through that second half except for the goals we conceded. Every team gives up chances so we need to get past the idea that no one should have shots against us.

We win that game 75% of the time with the ball that evaded two of ours on the goal line in the first half and with the clearance in the final seconds. Can't comment on the penalties as I've not seen them back but the players only really seemed to shout for the third one on Rodri. However after seeing the stuff that gets given every week in other games I'm going to assume we were robbed by VAR.

I'm seeing comments about us blowing the league and emergency and I don't think that hysteria serves us. Still plenty of season left and now is the time for cojones and not b*llocks

That’s the sport for you I guess, brilliant wins at Anfield and Leeds and then undo the good work with a tepid fucking display at home to relegation fodder , throwing a lead away twice

What is the point of Haaland, all he does is walk around and throw his arms in the air every few minutes
The big daft sod stands level with the last defender thinking one of our midfielders might play a through ball to him. Imagine being so stupid that you'd think we would pass forward.
Sorry Erling, Kev's gone and the rest aren't good enough most of the time.

It's not over til it's over.
Be a couple more results before the season ends.
Yes we need a few snookers but fuck me half of you lot on here need to grow a pair....

At least the Geordies might have got rid of the gloating rags on here.

Roll on Saturday.

Super city.

The simple fact that we're currently sitting safely in second place shows just how poor the PL actually is.

This is easily the weakest, least consistent City team we've seen since Mark Hughes left.

Thought we were far too pedestrian, too arrogant and showed absolutely no desire. We were shite going forward, just too slow, too passive and too willing to not take opportunities.

Haaland was invisible, Foden shouldn’t be anywhere near the pitch currently and what the fuck is Savinho doing back on the scene? Those aside, everyone else was poor, lacklustre and it looked like they thought all they to do for 3 points tonight was show up.

We’ve been way off it all season and the fact that we’re still in with a shout for the title, albeit an unlikely one again, shows how poor the standard is in the league this year.

Also, last couple of minutes of injury time and we’re fucking about not putting the ball in the box. We eventually do and get a corner and then decide to take a short one and lose the fucking ball. What on earth was going on? Pathetic decision making.

Lastly. We seem to score and then stop playing. It happens over and again and we’ve been caught out more times than I care to remember. Sometimes we get away with it and today we haven’t.

Shit all round including the manager today. Utter bollocks.
