Youtube Sucks

I severely dislike the algorithm. The problem you have is you watch one video and might want to change the subject. Like I went through a couple of videos on Jack the Ripper, as a keen history buff. I was done with the topic there after two documentaries, but for several days after that’s all I could see, more Jack the Ripper videos.

I get the algorithm giving you what it thinks you might like but it’s too strong.
Maybe have a few accounts

I pay $8 a month 4 quid. No more ads.
Still get some ads on music vids though.
I'm thinking of doing this myself, I watch YouTube a lot more than actual television can you tell me Chris, does the eight dollars include YouTube music ?

I do get some ads with the music but not as much. Usually I press on off the video a couple of times then it plays. Usually: )

That's on my phone though. On the TV it's pretty good.
Just played 5 vids and got 1 add. Pressed back play back play 3 times and it played. Still not great but better than waiting 30 seconds or even a minute sometimes.

On my phone I use the Brave browser so I don't get any ads at all which is great, but it's on the TV where the ads annoy me especially when they're in the middle of a video and the ads last 56 seconds so you you're kind of forced to watch them if you want to see the remainder of the video.
And of course the more subscribers a video host has, the more adds.

I only watch YouTube these days. I never watch mainstream TV. Unless it's to watch City of course. ; )

The simple answer to this is to get yourself a mini PC, or connect your PC to the TV and watch through the Brave (or Firefox) browser to avoid adverts.

Maybe even a cheap android box.

At least that kind of makes sense. The worst one is when you go on a website to buy a hoover say, they know you’ve bought a hoover, but rather than thinking “He’s got a hoover now, we’ll show him something else” the website thinks you’re just interested in hoovers.

All these fuckers moaning about about the odd 15 second ad and using browsers to block them forget that the content they’re watching takes hours and hours to put together by people that rely on the 1p from the ads view to make it worthwhile to keep producing content, spoilt cunts the lot of you.

Everyone wants everything for free but then expect to be paid for the work hours the do.

Thanks. I’m glad somebody recognises the effort some of us go to to make content that is entertaining and informative and not just raw video dumped off a phone.

As far I understand, we also get money when somebody who is subscribed to YouTube Premium watches a video.

Didn’t know you had a channel mate. What’s it called?

It seems that how much Youtube obviously sucks depends on where you live or if you're willing to employ a VPN. Perhaps I should invest in a VPN.

That said, the vanilla experience in the USA (and I guess in the UK) is that Youtube sucks - so many ads - and tricks previously working to bypass ads, no longer work.
Good.

I moan about the several 56 second adds that pop up, usually for online gambling, which I strongly disagree with.
I also think people like Rick Beato who I watch has more than a million subscribers and me wanting to watch his content without adds doesn't make him poor financially.
YouTube offer an add free service but Rick still gets paid.

Rob on Holiday.

We do lots of European city breaks, transport videos for cities, Disneyland Paris, UK lodge breaks. Anything related to holidays, we film it.

Well said. I hate ads too, but great content deserves to be rewarded or it won't happen..

Too many people want their entertainment and media whether its music, film, sport whatever provided for free and couldn't care less whether those providing it get paid or not, like some sort of entitlement.
