Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

One swallow….

I’ll raise you scum away, Madrid away, Forest at home, West Ham away, Bodo away….
Raise all you want, I'm not going to bother mentioning the "good" games.

It's frustrating that we are struggling with all these new, and mostly young players I get it, but it's not "one swallow" at all.

Go on then, name this season all the games where we’ve been brilliant. I’ll help you, there aren’t many. So don’t come on then pointing towards one awesome performance as a metric for shutting people down.

No mate, I think you're misunderstanding me, it's the style of football for me, not arsed if we win fuck all, but the quality and pace of our attack is being stiffled by the constant need for control of the ball (in my opinion).
As I said peps my hero, and will always have nothing but respect for the mad little fucker but right now it's not working and we've looked fragile predictable and easy tho play against for a good couple of seasons.
Footballs cyclical.
I don't mind the "constant need for control", the problem is that the majority of our current players aren't good enough to play it, or are unsuited to do so.

I wasn't sure we'd win the league but I didn't expect to be out of it trailing a half assed Arsenal squad by 9 points by mid March. I also didn't expect to not make it to the CL quarterfinals again. We've dropped 9 points to 3 bottom feeder clubs.

As far as winning 2 league cups I would celebrate each one, but in light of what the club expects I would still call that a sub par season. Many of our own supporters may not fancy our squad but we are far from the little engine that could. The idea that Pep is working wonders with a squad of highly paid internationals is laughable. Ask any serious talent evaluator in the sport (not rival supporters or dopey British pundits) to rank the level of our squad and see what they think of the job Pep is doing.
I’m gobsmacked that you believe winning 2 cups this season, whilst also finishing 2nd would be sub par, but each to their own eh?

I never said Pep was working wonders this season, so I’m not sure why you’ve mention that as being laughable?

As far as talent evaluators, I’ve never even heard that term in football before, so guessing you’re either from overseas or follow a sport that uses that terminology?

Ps, until Tuesday evening, we still have a chance of making the CL quarters, keep the faith mate, it’s not over ‘til the fat lady sings ;)

I think it’s a mixture of the two mate tbh, we will unlikely ever be shite but I reckon a decent top level manager might get a better tune out of this squad. Who knows, maybe the team know he’s going soon, and consequently they aren’t buying into his ideas as much as they used to now. None of us know, but there’s something not right. I’m just not scared of the next chapter, I think that’s where I’m coming from, hence my issue with people who say be careful what you wish for, it’s a game ffs, not the end of the world.

The only way we look good going forward is park the bus play attacking football on the break!

A bit of kick and rush will be exciting!

I like control possession when we put our chances away

Exactly my point, sit deeper, absorb pressure and break fast (not corn flakes) but we seem reluctant to try anything different, almost risk averse.

I don't need to thanks. As I said.....

They've usually not involved our superstar striker.

Is that based on them winning a solitary title, a cup and then flaming out before being leaving? I'm not diminishing them, but I have no idea how you can think it would be the same or similar. They were good managers, Pep is an all time great.
Is or was? which is basically the question, everything else is just noise.

People also conveniently ignore that Newcastle had to play 45 mins down to 10 men just 3 days before that game. They clearly hadn’t recovered fully. For the first half hour they were able to be themselves and were comfortably better than us. Only they then fell off a cliff in terms of energy and just couldn’t compete any more. It required Newcastle wilting from fatigue before we could get a foothold in the game. Throughout a season, sometimes teams are fortunate to play tough teams at a good moment, and we benefitted from that there. Howe even said after the game that they just didn’t have anything in the tank.

So many Blues wanting to replace Pep because…we’re only second, in a cup final and in two other cup competitions.
Shows you what a draw at West Ham can do, unbelievable.
Many? Wanting to replace? Because of one game against West Ham?

You should started the post with once upon a time in think :-)

Do people think this is his last year?

There’s too many whispers in the media for there not to be some sort of truth in it.
Also his behaviour has changed recently. Seems to be less concerned about defeats and more jovial/strange in press conferences.

The recruitment has been poor and Pep is accountable for some of that, but the PL in general offers little entertainment. I can't think of many teams that play fast, exciting football.

Wanna know what happens when your best players get old and you don't have Pep as manager? Take a look at Liverpool.

Wanna know what happens when you buy random players without a plan or for a particular style and you don't have Pep as manager? Take a look at Spurs.

The Pep Out idiots need to be careful what they wish for.

You sound a bit of a tit.

But it's not one swallow is it. City played well in the draw at Arsenal and thumped Liverpool and United at home, beat the Dippers away, beat Real Madrid away in the league stage, thumped Newcastle in 2 Cups etc.

There is inconsistency with a younger team that is getting used to playing with each other. It happens.

We are in a rebuild and have improved on last year. That's progress even if we have some frustrations with some decisions that Pep makes. He makes far more good decisions than bad ones.
