Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

No idea.

Do you enjoy the brand of football we currently employ?
It's been mixed this season and poor to watch at times. But I think that's more to do with our opposition and integrating lots of players overnight than the manager's overall strategies.

How do you play a high line when the opponents back line and midfield are afforded all the space in the world to play longer through balls? It's been so many times suicidal...
Obviously the press needs to prevent that, but that being said, we've always played high and have the league's best defensive record of the last 10 years, so it isn't inherently a problem.

True. We gave away some howlers even in our most successful seasons. When you are generally winning matches, often by some margin, you could say it’s a price worth paying.

I know Pep has said he feels the balance is off with Cherki starting, but somehow he needs to build the team to cover that, because he has to play. He's our only creative spark and has to be carried if that's what it takes for us to create more. I feel like the team could benefit in watching some Fernandinho videos - go wipe the opposition out if they're about to counter. Stop watching them pass around us with ease.

Our best midfields in title winning years have had two creative sparks, David Silva and Kevin also Gundogan and Kevin. Right now Cherki is one creative spark. I still don't think we have a Gundo replacement in this squad. Ideally it would be Phil but his form is horrid I think hes closest to Gundo with his eye for goal but he's not at the races right now , i believe the club thought Reijnders was that replacement but he's not performed to his best ability.

So we are left with one creative outlet in the middle. That's where I understand in the summer the links to Gibbs White as he's another that can create as he does for forest but also has an eye for goal.

You mean it wasn't a problem...

yeah ,we have lost our great high pressing and that is a big issue. We can´t suffocate teams anymore and prevent them from attacking us.

There’s no way Mansour, Khaldoon or Soriano will contemplate sacking Pep at the end of the season. Pep will see out his last season at City if he wants to do that. If Pep, doesn’t, he will leave with the blessing and a thank you for everything he has achieved and done for the club from those 3 and from the fans.

My money is on Pep staying for the last season of his contract, next season, and then leaving.
Then my money is on another season with side to side, slow football and defo no majors...

Do people think this is his last year?

There’s too many whispers in the media for there not to be some sort of truth in it.
Also his behaviour has changed recently. Seems to be less concerned about defeats and more jovial/strange in press conferences.
Smacked out of his tits? :-)

He will very likely be here next year.

That would be my guess too.

How are you not going to play a high line if the opponent is camped in their own box?

If you didn't play a high line there would be a huge gap in the middle of the pitch.
You ever seen a game of football where there is a huge gap in the middle and two teams just standing in their own half? No? To suggest one team has to play a highline is nonsense.

Not if your opposition refuses to leave their penalty box. Which happens almost every game.
