Leaves Semenyo, Omar and Phil to use when Real get tired.

I suspect however he may still go with Ruben and Bernie because of experience. Pace is the key at the back tonight especially with Mbappe returning. We need to load the midfield and allow the front 3 freedom to do what they want with width coming from the fullbacks who would be covered by having the extra CM in)
 
Tonight is a training game effectively. We'll play a team that plays like 90% of the sides we face. Low block, allowing us the ball until we get to the final third and then counter attacking.

It's a huge ask for us to come back, but even if we don't hopefully we learn how to finally get the balance of the side right so that moving forwards we can be successful. We've been either too vulnerable on the counter or too sterile in attack. He's got to try something new to address it or we'll keep struggling to win games. The title race isn't done. We're 3pts behind Arsenal if we win our game in hand and beat them.

But it's going to take much more than we're currently showing and tonight is a great way of kick starting the final push for silverware this season.

That's what I believe will happen. Pep honours his contracts, they appreciate what he has done and is doing in the rebuild. There is a chance he may stay longer but that is probably not going to happen.

I think that is pretty much the best team. Pace at the back Khus. Two attacking fullbacks, we need to attack. Legs in midfield with O'Reilly, Cherki creativity and the 2 best goalscorers.

But will Pep pick em?

I’d be more surprised if he fielded a significantly weakened side.

I’m expecting something in between … but much closer to the first.

Funny how our greatest ever win at the Etihad vs Real Madrid was so many people shooting from deep.. it was like we unleashed an artillery barrage on them.

But we never do it now!

I largely agree with the exception of Marmoush. Pep realistically just won't drop Haaland for a home game against Madrid where we need plenty of goals. Think this team also works to his strengths in that he has room to operate without Marmoush and Semenyo occupying the same positions. Cherki, Doku and Foden are also the most capable to get the ball to Haaland.

No balance on the right. Foden has done the some total of absolutely fuck all in 10 weeks. Semenyo is our top scorer in that time and is a winger. No balance was the issue last week, meaning they could send 2-3 people over to the left to stop Doku.

one player short of the best possible team. Marmoush! I guess we pay Erling too much to bench him
