Difference was Vinny could still come into the team after weeks out and be rock solidSquad player next season , he is getting untidy with his defending , cant fault his leadership qualities but father time has caught up with him , Khusanov , Guehi and Gvardiol ,are younger and better players now , Dias has been a brilliant player for our club and that cannot be underestimated , will still be a big presence in the squad on match days similar to Vinny in his last season.
Father Time with „ 28“ is an excuse. He just isn’t as good as he was or good for our system. Not only do the others turn faster than him and are better with the ball. They are also more flexible in their approach of play. Guehi could play as a 6 from time to time yesterday and feels far better on the ball.
This mentality and commanding and experience excuse that many here use is just full of bullshit. Extending him is as worse as extending Lewis for absolutely no reason.
Should be gone by 2028 when Reis comes back.

Happened to Hazard too and Hazard was a much better player than Ruben.
Even his most loyal fans have to admit.. since his hamstring injury 18 months ago.. he hasn't been the same.. If you remember, his injury was what kicked off the 1 point November of 2024. (we had no backup)
It's time for us to come to terms.. he'll just be like Stones from now on.. injured but fill in a few games here and there.
We need succession planning.

Were managing very nicely without him. Guehi and Khusanov are doing just fine. you just know if fit Pep would shoehorn him back into the side. That would be wrong in my opinion.Really annoying that he won't be ready for the semi-final. That would be the perfect game to play him in.
Hopefully he's ready for Everton and Brentford.

You make it sound like he's feckin 38 and on the verge of the knackers yard.
Needs to get back to concentrating on his football - that's the main concern imho
