I get that but we will know a lot more about Donnas long-term future after 3 seasons here. When you have managed to get the most promising homegrown keeper in England on your books you protect that asset. If he makes the necessary steps in that time you reevaluate, you might even be ruthless and decide Trafford is the future despite Donnarumma not droppikg off or wanting to stay (add to this players, even keepers that debut early tends to decline at an earlier age)Donarumma is 27.
He has probably got another 10 years at the top of his game.
