Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

Beware. Exi Stant on X has heard from his source that a major transfer target has fallen through. His source, though having the time to ring him to tell him about this collapse, did not have the time to tell him who is was. His followers are on tenterhooks.

Haha mad how these Twitter ITKs work. And how some people follow their news and take it as gospel!

Those that dont rate him because he isnt as good as our past greats like Silva, Gundogan or Dinho... nobody currently is other than like Pedri who is the closest to the first 2.

Ive seen some people say he isnt especially the best at any metric, and just good at them... but thats fine?

He is very good at many midfield qualities means he has no deficiencies, its okay if he isnt the best at it.

The simpler reason is that there arent other options that are better.

Next season having Rodri, Nico G, Anderson, Foden and Reijnders (+ Nico O as both LB and midfield option) is fantastic depth with a mix of defensive options, chance creating and goal scoring.

Good post mate.

When you have players like Cherki and Doku, someone who wins it and gives it is a vital cog in the machine.
He’s even better than that though. He is also a deep lying play maker and a much better passer of the ball than the likes of Fernandinho, who was the perfect example of winning it and giving it.

Oh yes, he clearly has some quality. My point was that everyone is a cog in the overall machine. He can do things that Cherki and Doku cannot do, just as they are beyond others in other areas. He is very mobile, which suits Gonzalez and Rodri, for example, who are less mobile but have other fine qualities.

A 4321 with a younger midfield trio of say Foden, Nico G, and Anderson would be amazing to support Doku, Cherki and Haaland for example.
This sounds great till you realise we have Nico already who doesn’t get picked and Foden is in terrible form

Not writing either player off but it’s a long way to go before we can believe it would be amazing

Nico doesnt get picked because of Rodri, but when thinking future I put Nico G and he has shown good enough performances for me (our best games imo came with him starting).

Foden is in bad form, but early on, he was great in the left 8 role, and for multiple reasons (I talked about in his thread) its gone downhill.

But I will always back him to bounce back.

It was more to show there is a potential youthful quality set up with Anderson in.

Fern could do a lot more than just win it back. He'd chip in with goals and was a lot better on the ball than people give him credit for. He was a leader and a fighter on the pitch too, I'm not sure Anderson is.

Having said that Anderson does have talent... if he ends up at City being half the player fern was he'll have done well.

Unless Rodri ends up leaving I dont see the sense in shelling £80m or whatever unless its true that Nico G wants out this summer.

Fernandinho could indeed pass the ball quite well and chip in with goals, he wasn’t just another De Jong type, but Anderson is a superior footballer on the ball than Fernandinho was.

Anderson next to Rodri would be superb. He’s a true box to box midfielder and has brilliant passing talent. The two of them with a Cherki or a firing Foden, just in front, would be the best midfield in the country.

£100m is worth it. He’s that good for me and still just 23.

The thing with Foden is to a point a misconception,no doubt since Christmas he has dropped off for a few reasons as you say,but he was very good before then in a deeper position.Trouble is people look back at his stats and compare his goals and assists with POTY Foden and think he wasn't the same player not seeing they don't match up because his role was very different.
