20 | Bernardo Silva - 2025/26

If he isn't going back to Benfica whixh is now being reported it'll be a travesty to let him go. He's nowhere near past it, whoever we replace him with will be a serious downgrade. Couldn't we give him one extra year then Benfica might be plausible. Will be the first of the Pep era legends we'll have let go too soon.

His wife may prefer to live in Barcelona, Milan or the likes.

It is what it is. He's leaving as a legend. A bit underrated in the media due to his numbers, but he is amongst the top midfielders in PL history.

When he does eventually go, we’re gonna have to find a whole new way of playing, cos there’s just no-one else out there in world football that can do what he does. His ball retention skills and his energy levels are so far above everyone else’s, he’s practically an alien species. His contribution yesterday was best exemplified late in the first half when Liverpool threatened to counter down our left flank and, anticipating that Khusanov was going to get there first, but would need an exit, Bernie ran back to the right back position on the other flank, to not only help his colleague but launch our own counter, which in turn led to the penalty. A little thing, but so important. The man’s irreplaceable

Loved just watching Bernardo on the rewatch. Literally all over the pitch - what a player

I am finally getting on with reading Pol Ballus’ last book about Pep and in there Bernie is described as the glue that holds the team together; it is a very good description.

You have picked out a great example of the kind of thing he does that can go unnoticed but is absolutely vital. It bears reiterating that Pep sees all the little details and that is why he loves Bernie so much and plays him whilst some supporters have been known to complain about Pep being biased.

Bernie would have been my MotM yesterday but for the hat trick hero.

I would have loved him to stay longer but a rebuild, is a rebuild and he has fully earned his right to go with our best wishes to live somewhere that has a climate and culture closer to what he grew up with. If I was Viana, I would offer him a big pay increase to extend for another year to help smooth the transition.

Oh, another notable thing about Bernie is that he seems to be able to find his best form at the business end of the season.

Yep, my thinking too.

What a player. It's going to take two players to replace the versatility he provides us.

There was no way we were losing his last match vs Liverpool.

One of our best ever, it'll be sad to see him leave at the end of the season.
