45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

I’d sell Dias this Summer. (Which we won’t).

His stock will start to drop quickly over the next couple of years but as of now he still has a bit of a rep for being an elite defender.

We could get 70m for him if we can get the right buyer.

We could easily go into next season with these 5 CB

Guehi
Khusanov
Reis
Gvardiol
Ake

and if you want a 6th give Stones a year, pay as you play deal.

Nothing against Ruben and as a man he’s a top lad, but business is business and we should be ahead of the curve in my opinion with this one.

I'd have to agree, the difference when he plays compared to khusanov is remarkable, reis seems to be doing well at girona so give him a chance I say

From that list i would swap out ake for mfuni

We were at our best this season when Dias and Gvardiol played at CB together.

Khusanov, Dias ,Gvardiol and Guehi- awesome set of centre backs to pick from. Choice of who to supplement those 4 with Reis , Bah, Alleyne and Mfuni all being options as the 5th or even holding onto Ake ( though he obviously wants more minutes than he is likely to get). Personally would like to see Ake get another year and allow the 4 young lads get time out on loan - minutes on the pitch to develop. All looks very promising at Centre back.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ake leave at the end of the season. I’m fairly certain Stones will be allowed to go as well. I’m not sure about Dias but I share your view that if someone made a decent offer for him we have to look at it. I really like the look of the four that remain on your list with support, if needed, from the Academy.

To be fair, that was before we had Guehi and Khusanov was not getting a game.

Pep believes you play the best players in training and games and has never missed an opportunity to assert that belief. At the moment, it is hard to remove Khusa from the RCB position (or Guehi from the LCB position)

Ruben has at least one more season in him at City, but I agree with the general sentiment. He is starting to utilize fouls and grappling to make up for the slower pace he has, but he’s a leader in the squad, so unless someone came in with an offer City AND RUBEN would take, I think he stays.

That said, I think if a nice city in a warm location came in for him, then his new Mrs might greatly like that…for them!
Regardless, it appears clear to me that Khusa is the longterm future at RCB, and he would be an excellent RCB in a 3 with Dias and Guehi or Guehi and Gvardiol or Guehi and Reis or Reis and Gvardiol…but whichever the combo, I don’t expect him to NOT be one the defenders for the next decade!

LOVE this guy!

His comfort on the ball now is really pleasing. Looks assured and knows what he’s doing.
That's what a run in the side will do for a player.

I've really liked him, since before he came off the pitch on his debut, but he's moved up a few levels now that he feels part of the team. Fingers crossed he stays there.

The only thing he's missing is some adventurous passing, which will come.

I think a really underrated aspect that he's improved on a ton since January is dealing with aerial battles. He's small, so he's never going to be dominant in the air, but he's getting really good at making sure his man doesn't get anything on the ball with a bit of physical contact at the right moment. He was marking Van Dijk who's at least 5" taller than him yesterday and did great.

He's 6' 1" - not really small. He's no giant but he doesn't need to be.

He is such fun to watch . Those tackles . And he's so calm .When he puts the burners on you just know the opposition attack is coming to an end . We've seen Walker do the same , of course as a key part of our most successful teams but somehow watching Khus do it brings a smile to my face , like watching your kid walk for the first time . We know Nunes can sprint back but, knowing there's cover behind, means he is free to wander forward , support Semenyo and send in crosses for the big man .
