Bernardo has been an amazing servant to our great club, who doesn't get the plaudits he deseves.

Tnt stating he's only missed 9 games due to injury in 10 years which shows how consistant he has been. Although he will be difficult to replace, it.s the correct decision.

Had the club decided to not renew Kev's contract then its unlikely we sign Cherki & that could be the case with Anderson if we managed to get Berny to re-sign for another year.

Hopefully he goes back to Portugal & doesn't end up at Barca

I always remember the game against the dippers in 18-19 where he just ran his legs off the entire night. Everytime i looked at him that night he was sprinting around everywhere. He always gave everything for the badge and especially against Liverpool.
Of course, the 4-0 night against Madrid he was magnificent.
So many other nights you could name where he was just simply unplayable.
A true warrior and legend of the club.
Thank you Bernie, forever grateful.

Genuinely gutted that he's leaving.

Had his haters in these threads from those disparagingly calling him Unc.

But he's been one of our best and most consistent players. Made the team tick and fitted in the team when we needed players in various positions.

He'll be hard to replace.

Such an incredibly gifted football player who gave his all for the team. Even the way he spoke during interviews was brilliant. Sadly he will be greatly missed and he played such a major role in all the successes of recent years. All the very best to him and his family for the future.

What a player, family man and credit to his parents for raising such a great person.
Will be fondly remembered as one of our greats.
I for one will miss him when he’s gone but he owes us nothing, he’s worked his b**** off for the team and has been rewarded with countless trophies.
If you are going at the end of the season Bernie, good luck to you and your family for the future. You will be missed but forever welcomed back.

Sadly official now.

Enjoy moving back home to Lisbon.

Thanks for the memories and trophies, Bernardo.
Nothing on the OS yet. But those Lijnders comments (assuming they're genuine) seem to confirm it. An end to the longest running transfer saga in our 18 year history; he's been leaving every summer for the last five or six years!

There's one thing for sure, PL referee's will be celebrating, he gives each and everyone of them grief.

We've had many different stars over the last decade, but I think he's been my favourite, I hope we can win at least one more trophy for him, then he can go back home to enjoy his last few seasons.

Favourite player, irreplaceable, and arguably one leaving when his powers are not actually waning. That said, the club needs to continue to be emotionless and allow players to leave rather than extend. We simply need to rejuvenate midfield, particularly for Europe, but it’s going to be a tall order for anyone coming in this summer. Whomever we bring in will already be under scrutiny and be weighed down with expectation, but his case won’t be helped unless there’s also substantial improvement in the consistency of existing midfielders (Gonzalez, Foden, Reijnders, Kovacic, Lewis).

He’s been especially superb this season, taken on responsibility for the whole team and dragged them back up to the standards he was used to with KDB, Merlin, Fern, etc.

Inspirational, tireless leader on the pitch. Wish he could stay another season to help the new younger players.

This is the first of our exiting legends who I think could do another season at the top level. Unlike all of the others he’s still performing at his best. Obviously he leaves a hero. Yet another top/world class player who gave all his best years to City which is testament to what a well run club we have been for the last 15 years.
