You always get a handful of people on these threads banging on about the late (?!) KO time being an outrage as they’ll struggle to make the last train from Euston but in reality a very very small percentage of the 30,000+ blues who’ll be there travel by train

The reason the last train is always about 9 pm on a Saturday night is because they want the line shut early to crack on with weekend track works. Yeah, Spurs were definitely at home that day. Due to the West Coast mainline being out of commission, we went over to Leeds and got the train down to Kings Cross. A few Spurs fans got on at Stevenage and immediately wished they hadn’t as they were greeted by a carriage full of pissed up blues singing “Have you ever seen Tottenham win the league?”. That's right, I remember the West Coast mainline being closed for preplanned works with it being Easter, so both sides campaigned to play the game up north originally.

Despite the annual flapping, nobody who has made their way straight back to Euston after a Wembley game has ever been left stranded. They don't want thousands of angry, pissed up football fans stuck there all night. They always make provision for getting everyone home, even if it goes to pens. They just don't advertise it because if they're not needed, they don't bother running them.
