I don’t think there were any 3pm league fixtures on the day of the Liverpool semi though. It was Easter Saturday so most EFL teams played on Good Friday IIRC. So it could’ve actually been a 3pm kick-off. I know a lot of City and Liverpool fans campaigned for a decent kick-off time.
I'm sure Spurs were at home that day as I remember there being loads of them in the St Pancras wetherspoons. Saying that, maybe I'm getting mixed up with the Sheffield United game the following year.

That's right, I remember the West Coast mainline being closed for preplanned works with it being Easter, so both sides campaigned to play the game up north originally.

If we pass Southampton, and in case we will face Leeds in final.... I hope not to be an old days classic...on the streets.... Its 2026 ....or not?

Even having been there 20-odd times, I still don’t know what this means.

I hate generic ‘North’ ‘East’ ‘South’ ‘West’ names for stands.
I don't even know which side at the etihad is east and west.
If anyone says it, I say is that the kippax or main stand.

Same with Wembley but it's is it the green man end or the other end (which used to be have we got the roundabout)

Here’s a thought: City put on trains for the late KO. They could do it if the will is there.
Wasn’t the idea floated of running special trains for the league cup final but it didn’t gather steam ;-) due to a lack of demand ?

You always get a handful of people on these threads banging on about the late (?!) KO time being an outrage as they’ll struggle to make the last train from Euston but in reality a very very small percentage of the 30,000+ blues who’ll be there travel by train

There were definitely PL games that day with 3pm kickoffs. Two or three of them from memory.

I must say I am happy with a Saturday kick off, was dreading Sunday.

Just hope City make it easy for people to buy tickets for those Blues who wont get one for the final.

Hotels good price in Milton Keynes so staying there as Watford is double what it was v Arsenal.

The special trains never gathered steam, mainly because they were scrapped about 60 years ago.

The reason the last train is always about 9 pm on a Saturday night is because they want the line shut early to crack on with weekend track works. So you can't just book a special train for later on.

Despite the annual flapping, nobody who has made their way straight back to Euston after a Wembley game has ever been left stranded. They don't want thousands of angry, pissed up football fans stuck there all night. They always make provision for getting everyone home, even if it goes to pens. They just don't advertise it because if they're not needed, they don't bother running them.

Yeah, Spurs were definitely at home that day. Due to the West Coast mainline being out of commission, we went over to Leeds and got the train down to Kings Cross. A few Spurs fans got on at Stevenage and immediately wished they hadn’t as they were greeted by a carriage full of pissed up blues singing “Have you ever seen Tottenham win the league?”. Also remember some Liverpool fans getting on somewhere en route - all drinking coffee, etc, the soft twats!

Just checked and Spurs kicked off at 12.30pm that day

20past 7 train from warrington, straight into euston spoons for 9.15.

last train 20:31 which will be fine. can do Wembley park back to Euston sq in 40mins if leave on the whistle. even have time for a flyer on way back.

Avanti often don’t run the ones that are advertised…
