Real Madrid (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Your right about too many games. The increase in European games requires less domestic football perhaps a smaller league (not happening) No LC for teams in Europe might help a bit. Other would like a return to something like the old competition but that isn't happening either.
I thought about that - then realised it actually changes very little for the sides in Europe to be honest.
There's only 7 rounds (including the final) and teams in Europe come in at Round 3 at which point most play fringe players anyway.
Result - very little additional rest for the most part.
You couldn't schedule PL games around it for a round or 2 as the EFL wouldn't be at all happy taking the spotlight. You'd also have to remove the European spot as I doubt UEFA would allow it without all teams participating.
Just my views

It’s definitely onside (with var), we need to move on.
Pre var it would have been given offside. To me it's not right that a player clearly offside as the ball is played forward and scores, is not "offside", but the rules say he isn't.

The whole offside thing has become a joke, you can be off/on side with various parts of the body that can't score a goal, and add to that var now rules out the whole point of football (scoring goals) for the tiniest of margins.

It's a fucking mess, and worse still var was brought in for consistency, yet there isn't any, and don't get me started on handball, an even bigger mess created by var.

I don’t disagree mate. I’d keep goal line technology and scrap the rest, going back to allowing the officials to decide in the moment. Football was better for it and considering they get so much wrong with technology now, it’s harder to accept when they have a million replays and hours of our time being wasted watching the sport, only for the useless fuckers to get it wrong.

Re offsides, how the player is measured within a fraction of a millimeter, yet no such accuracy is available for the other end of the equation,ie the nano second the ball is kicked .
To me, that means any close decision is guesswork at best.
This is exactly the point. How can they possibly tell the very moment the ball is kicked? A ball will travel 5 yards at 30mph in 0.34 of a second - one third of a second - so to be able to judge if a player is onside or offside by a few millimeters at the exact second the ball is played is a absolutely impossible.

Put it this way, if they're a third of a second out the ball would have traveled another 5 yards at that pace.

I know it's gone and over and all that, But this picture I have just seen is a puzzle about the offside ?
What I don't get is this

Dias is what the VAR image is using, but Khusanov's shoulder is ahead of Dias's knee and Vin Jr boot looks ahead of both.

This is why it took until halftime to show the semi-automated clip ? clear it's been photo shopped and changed

Mmmmmmm you put Vin Jr instead of moaning , cheating Cnut , otherwise ….

$140 was loaned by CFG to MCFC for the North Stand build with interest out of that lot more specifically, as well as the overall charge on the groups assets.

It is mortgage type debt rather than credit card, or even worse PFI :)
Good debt. Tax advantageous debt.

My software developer son tells me there is software out there that can me amended for footy - microscopically accurate. Don't ask me to name the software though............

Dross is a poor choice of words. Some of the players that will probably leave have been brilliant for this club.
i'll conceded there, but we cant have 6 centre backs, especially when the sixth choice (based on yesterdays selection) is on £250K. and we cant carry on with the bernie midfield show next season - it hasnt worked for 2 years consistently. the rest are dross.

I think City getting beat by Real Madrid may have inadvertently done us a favour.

I watched Real Madrid v Bayern tonight.

City wouldn’t have beaten Bayern over two legs.

Pep wouldn’t have played his strongest team against Liverpool in the FA Cup, resting players for the CL match.

I’d happily take the Carabao cup and the FA cup, if we win both?

We’ll go again next season in the CL with this seasons new players bedded in, and some new signings in the Summer.

Shame Real Madrid couldn't play like that against us.
