Had a nice email from her son this morning to say that the family have seen the thread and found it heartwarming to read the many messages about Sheila. He said she found a great deal of happiness, comfort & fun in the forum.
She struggled to get to games towards the end, but apparently the club (Danny Wilson & his team) were brilliant with her, offering parking passes etc. For all the stick the club gets sometimes, it's worth remembering they do an awful lot of stuff like this under the radar that they don't seek attention for.
She passed away peacefully in hospital on Easter Monday after catching pneumonia. She was 84 years old and is survived by her 4 kids, 8 grandkids, 5 great grandkids, 5 brothers & 1 sister. Funeral arrangements are still to be finalized but can be passed on for anyone wishing to attend.
A few people have asked about donations for a charity/cause close to her heart, or possibly for flowers at the funeral. Will keep you posted on that.
BumpI wonder whether applause in the 84th minute might be a nice gesture? I will be doing it with my 2 lads. Whenever John Stones did something good I always used to get up and shout towards the Colin Bell stand “that’s for you Eccles”

I can’t help thinking whenever O see that glass bridge, I’ll think of Eccles Blue!I saw this thread yesterday but didn't want to post straight away. I first became aware of Eccles Blue in bizarre circumstances. I'm also from Eccles and my Mum's name is Sheila. I can't remember exactly what happened but there was a misunderstanding which lead to me contacting my own mother to ask if she'd joined Bluemoon!
Then, in my favourite days on here, I started a thread about the 8th wonder of the world - The Glass Bridge in Eccles. Oh how our Sheila enjoyed that thread. She commented on it a number of times and pm'd me saying it had made her laugh so much.
She must've took a keen interest in my (and many others') posts, because when I finally met her - behind the goal at Anfield with my eldest - she was asking about my other two kids and the missus like she knew them all! What's more of a testament to the warmth of this lady was that despite this being the first time I'd laid my eyes on her, I felt like I'd known her for years as well and just naturally started telling her what my kids had been up to!
Her positivity will be sorely missed on here. We've had a few collective tellings off when things haven't been going well for John Stones and the team and have been reminded too many times to remember that "The boys in blue NEVER give in!"
RIP Eccles Blue - the Glass Bridge in the sky is said to be even more eye catching than ours!
She appears to have gotten a special dispensation for this and I suppose it was fully deserved. She will be missed.Hard to imagine this place without her. Just had a quick look, it's less than a fortnight since her last post.
Sleep well Sheila. I'm going to miss your Upper Case habit!
:-(
This is a special case I think. She resalutely stood behind Boulders when many including myself on occasions gave him grief. I am sure he will be sad to hear his greatest fan ever is up in heaven.I realise that it's a dangerous precedent to set, but it'd be nice if someone on here who has connections at the club could get in touch with John, and see if he could make contact with the family. Even just sending a sympathy card. Yes; I realise that you'd get people saying "you did it for her, why not for my mum".
