Sad passing of a loyal blue Eccles Blue

Hi
I’m Shiela/Eccles granddaughter I just felt I had to comment and say the family are absolutely blown away by the amount of lovely and heartfelt messages on here about her.
She loved going to the football and clearly made so many wonderful friends and a real city family through it.
Thank you all for sharing your stories and words - it’s brought a smile to my face (along with a few tears) to see that other people thought as highly of her as we did x

What a wonderful picture. Thanks for posting it, Michelle.

My condolences to you and your family in this sad moment.

Sadly I heard yesterday from a friend who goes on the bus from monton that Eccles Blue sadly passed away. Before her bad health started Sheila travelled home and away and liked to come on Bluemoon to support her beloved blues.

Sheila was a lovely likeable lady and will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

God bless She. True blue.
Sad news. RIP Eccles Blue.

She knew a good defender when she saw one. No doubt about that.

She certainly did. Dunne then Kompany then Stones were her favourite players through the bluemoon years.

Exactly what you’d expect from an old school, schoolteacher and union rep.

So pleased you posted that Michelle. I've now got a memory of her smiling face. Likewise it brought a smile and a tear to my eye as well.

I remember how proud she was that night.

At 9.00pm GMT last night I watched my Granddaughter, who is in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada play football for her University team Acadia Uni nicknamed the Axe Women!! She scored a goal in the first five minutes but unfortunately they had some 'technical difficulties' so I didn't see it but I saw most of the rest of the game.

Technology is wonderful sometimes. She's playing again on Sunday. Same time same channel. :-)

Plus another thing (could be interesting or not) I was talking to a cousin of mine over here a couple of weeks ago about the fact that I used to play football with the lads and we got into a discussion about the fact that sometimes we called it Football and sometimes Soccer when we were kids.

Aww thank you for this, that’s my Canadian cousin who she was posting about, I’ll show her♥ it’s lovely to read.
I’m the one with the great grandchildren she speaks about

Like anything in life, after sad news is received such as Sheila's passing, thoughts turn to a life well lived and legacy.

It's truly remarkable, despite only a handful of us ever meeting her, that she has touched so many lives. I never had the pleasure of her company, but I find myself getting sadder by the day. Literally hundreds of Blues, young and FOC, from every conceivable walk of life, are mourning the loss this fine lady. A bunch of much maligned, hard-nosed, one-eyed footy fans, paying tribute to our Eccles. I have no doubt that every single one of us, at some time in the future, will think of her as we hover over the "post reply" button, and edit as appropriate. Just in case she wouldn't approve.

If that's not legacy, then I don't know what is.
Posted some thoughts earlier in the thread, then after reading the rest of the messages on the thread it made me think.
Did anyone else take extra care like I did when messaging Eccles Blue. Overall my spelling and grammar is pretty good I think, but I always had to double check, or even look stuff up, just in case.
