Sheffield Wednesday thread

Wednesday's situation demonstrates the need for more financial oversight by the authorities.
We need a process where club owners can be forced to sell if creditors, players, stadium staff etc are not paid on time, instead of waiting years and having information coming out drip by drip thus leading to multiple financial penalties. Chansiri has been less than useless for many years yet the EFL have done nothing, possibly because there was no mechanism for them to act.
If the preferred bidder is only offering to cover a tiny percentage of debts then perhaps it's better if the club went under and started again. There would be no shortage of buyers if they could retain the use of Hillsborough.
The other thing we need is more frequent analysis of clubs financial circumstances in the hope problems can be spotted early. This may go against standard business practice (or practise) but too many disreputable arseholes are being allowed to own football clubs.
Having said all that: Wednesday should be able to survive in the third tier even if they start on minus fifteen so they can spent the 26-27 season preparing for a major promotion push in 27-28.
Don’t worry, FFP and PSR will sort it and make absolutely sure we’ll never again, ‘have a Portsmouth’…

Me neither

This is a press release from perspective new owner David Storch, like the Bord group are they looking to pull out due to what needs to be done.

If so barring Mike Ashley coming around the table again is that curtains for us? A lot of Wednesday fans think it could be.
The fact that he’s used an adjective with the word unique proves he’s a wrong ‘un of the first order and he should not be allowed into the country, let alone Sheffield.

Wednesday wont die, if clubs like Darlington can rise from the ashes so can SWFC.
Its just where they would restart you in the league re away support.

I agree it would all be on where we start.

For me though after 40 years I'm not sure I'd start again if we were a Phoenix Club. The way I've felt for a while I'd probably just draw a line under it.

Would be brilliant, some great away days.

Hope SWFC get back to at least the Championship, as they have had a very tough last few years.
Would be worried if they became a "Phoenix Club" though, with Rave On, Brian Potter and Kenny Senior playing for them...

How’s Potter going to play for them, his wheels would get stuck in the mud.

Would you ditch football or find a local non-league team to watch? Or even a different EFL/PL team.

Kenny Senior would talk the talk but would probably be another false dawn!

We've had worse over the years :)

I would just become a ground hopper, go to games that tickle my fancy.

Less stress that way ;)
