You've hit the nail on the head there, it's the private education system, not nepotism. Megan McCubbin has a degree in zoology, so presenting a program about animals bases itself on her expertise and education, and is a meritocratic appointment. Her family connection may have helped her in knowing there was a vacancy, and that is legal and fine. Her presenting abilities, and I must admit her easiness on the eye also make it a good appointment! We will never know. She appeared with him in a couple of his documentaries and was hired on the basis of that. Personally, I think she is very good at what she does. It’s not just the BBC though nepotism is rife in Industry and politics. Just look at the public school system. That’s why I can’t really get annoyed with Megan McCubbin.
It's the private school system that still insidiously controls the upper echelons of not just politics (where it is clearly rife on the right wing side, and not unknown on the left), but the civil service, military, media and even private business too.
7% of our population went to private school. More than half of BBC presenters went to private school. Why? 38% of BBC executives come from private school backgrounds, a figure that has increased in recent years. 66% of the England Rugby Union squad this year went to private or selective schools. This is the opposite of a meritocracy. 63% of the military top brass. 50% of newspaper columnists.
It is the private education system that drives the corruption leading to mediocrity at the top of organisations across this country. Why does the MOD waste so much money?.. because it's run by civil servants and generals that have no idea of the value of money, and why should they? they've never had to think about it. But that makes them uniquely unsuitable for the job, yet the pattern on their tie got them the job. This is what we should be fighting against. It is this corruption that is continually dragging Britain down - we're lions led by donkeys.
OK, that was quite a rant, sorry, but it's a rant based on facts, not emotions:
