North Stand Construction Discussion

I wonder why the club seem to want to hide the City references around the stadium?
They dont and arent, plenty of existing branding around the stadium and people visiting will be well aware of City but the square hotel and commercial buildings are designed as a 365 day visitor attraction with multi purpose use so people wont have City rammed down their throats. Remember this is designed to increase the club's revenue which is spent on the team and helps City meet SCC in future years On match day <30 days a year there will be plenty of City branding with the big screens around the complex

There were plenty of people going to the Prodigy concert last night taking pictures and selfies of the Coop Live Arena and the North stand stood on Joe Mercer Way

That specific area of the Etihad Campus and the Etihad Campus itself is fast becoming a (leisure) destination in it's own right, with the adition of Mamma Mia to come this year.

Imagine going to the Etihad stadium as a football fan, and/or the Coop Live Arena a concert goer for the first time, and this is the sight you see as you get off the tram at the Etihad Campus tram stop.(with the 2 video screens to be added to the end of the 2 claws) And then walking up the steps seeing the North stand fan zone and the Coop Live Arena.

Well said, I think some people try to find anything to criticise.

The overall Medlock Sq is designed to feel neutral. Likely so that non-match day attendees won’t feel like they’re in a Manchester City fanzone.

On a match day it will be full of City fans in City gear, the big screens will be full of City imagery, the club shop will be open etc.

When a concert is on and there is no match then the screens will probably have band imagery on with music videos, interviews, ads for Coop Live etc.

Doesn’t make much sense to alienate the vast majority of the British public by shoving City branding in their faces. I’ve got Rag mates that attend the Coop and put their money into the area.

Hi Colin, great video as always, the covers were off the seats at the last home game against Liverpool in the cup and the club are aiming to open the stand for the last home game of the season against Villa

Does anyone get the sense they are pulling out all the stops (additional contractors/shifts) to get it ready enough to open for the Villa game in 5 weeks time, with some sort of test event beforehand e.g. reduced opening for Palace?
