Referees' Performances | 2025/26

I can’t think of a single critical decision he’s ever given us, going right back to 2016 when John Terry brought Aguero down when clean through on goal and he reached for a card, then realising Terry was the last man, took his hand away from his pocket and waved play on. He might not be as shameless as he once was, now that his star has risen, but he’s still a long way off the top of my Christmas card list
That was the worst I've ever felt about referees.

He cost us that game and a couple of suspensions 100%

I called Alty out as a cheat on here a decade ago. There are still ..blues who say he's a good ref and he's not corrupt... unbelievable.

He ruined City v Chelsea 10 years ago when failing to send off Chelsea centre back pulling back Augero who was thru on goal..,and the game descended into bedlam at the end.

This afternoon, imo, Taylor was following his old methods ,doing his best to turn a powder keg match into a brawl....hoping ,waiting to get an opportunity to send a City player off.
We were so disciplined,so restrained,I'm proud of those players today .

Anthony Taylor makes me vomit..and he's always there, always gets the big matches
Any Taylor fanboys like to argue the toss today ??
That Chelsea game was pre-VAR, but Alty had an earpiece in. I'm 100% convinced he was told not to send Luis off because he went to his pocket as if to pull out the red card then paused, touched his earpiece and then mysteriously changed his mind. Whether it was an off-field decision or not is irrelevant though as he still knowingly gave the wrong decision, no doubt convinced it was for the 'greater good' of the game, same for todays non-red card. We couldn't possibly have Gabrielle suspended for three games in a tight title race now, could we?

There were at least 4 cynical fouls from Arsenal where the bald **** didn't present a yellow. Gabriel had his hands all over Haaland all game and the bald prick didn't give one single foul. He is either bent or incompetent

Imho it was a decent performance by the referee. I’ve see a lot worse. Yes Gabriel shud’ve walked but that’s the VAR to blame mainly. There’s always something to moan about.

How can you lay that on VAR? Alty was on the spot and saw it in real-time. It was nothing but a red card and he should have sent him off, but either he or VAR decided it wasn't a red card.

He should have given it and he didn't, and I firmly believe that decision not to send him off was made in order to 'protect the product' at all costs.

To my surprise
I read on Bluemoon earlier today.
When the Alty fan refs us we haven't lost.
Don't know if it's true or not.

Hold your horses mate. I said Gabriel should’ve walked. The VAR is there to overrule a decision by the ref. The VAR didn’t despite multiple video footage.

Protect the product seems over-emotional. And I am in favour of the ones saying City has been treated differently the past 15 years by refs, VAR, media etc.
Haaland decided not to go down. So it wasn’t that bad. Yet Gabriel had a lucky escape and Haaland should not have been booked.

Thought he was good to be fair. Let it go as much as he could for both sides instead of being picky and giving everything. Gave plenty of chances on both sides for players not to pick up yellows that could easily have been given. Wasn't fooled by some dubious diving that you could forgive him for being conned by. Didn't make any rash decisions. The only contentious decisions was the Gabriel headbutt, not sure what the ref saw, can forgive him not seeing it properly amongst the melee, that should have been a var decision not Taylor's. Had opportunities to take centre stage but declined them, exactly how a ref should be. Fair play to the rag twat.

I was there for that Chelsea match ,in the South stand upper, and can clearly remember Augero, ghosting past luiz to be in on goal...then luiz blocked him off, didn't get the ball, clear red card all day long. I watched Taylor run over ,going for his red card. Then he stopped, went to his ear piece.....and produced a yellow. That was the day football died for me......an understanding that the games were now being reffed 100 miles away in some computer room.

I've said before...fans shouldn't bother going the game anymore, just get a season ticket for SP,then you know the outcome ,it's Live,....

Worst decision ever made in Football to allow off field control and authority.......I said it Ten years ago and I'll say it again. The game of football ,as I see it,had completely changed that moment.
I went berserk after the game ,was ranting and raving about that decision for days after.
It's incredible, that ten years later, after a big title deciding match, which we won, ....that Mr Taylor is still the star of the show..........

For Anthony Taylor, I'll give you Alf grey, two cheating muppets who are a stain on the history of Football.....That City documentary back in 1980/81 season didn't mention any of this did it.
That programme was a determined effort to make Manchester City look crap to all the world, and
Promote the might of man utd. I'm not one for conspiracy theories ;) ;).......but Granada and poss Swales himself ... allowed City to be portrayed as weak blue losers.....Utd and Liverpool were the favorites.Watching footy from afar now,I can see how it's all been played out..

Thank God we have Pep, and a bunch of resilient professional footballers who know what's going on,and are skillful enough to rise above it all.

Rant Over.

Beautifully put.

The Aguero/Luis incident was pre VAR, but they were definitely mic'd up.

It was absolutely blatantly obvious that decision wasn't made on the field of play and it pretty much derailed our title challenge that season. I'm convinced we were witnessing Scudamore's 'strategic plan' in real-time.

I don't think anything has changed much. They are just better at hiding it, Although the mask still slips every now and again.

If I remember right, he didn't even produce a yellow, he waved play on because Chelsea went up the other end and nearly scored. Luiz was kicking Sergio all game, even a knee high tackle, think that was the reason Sergio thought fuck it and tried to do him later.

I look forward to the gif of Raya kicking the ball out, jumping into the air, landing on the floor, and somehow getting a free kick.

I had to watch the replay just to make sure I wasn't senile. Not a city player near him, nobody making a challenge, the momentum of his own kick makes him fall down, and we got penalised for it.

You can't give what you can't see. Unless you're Anthony Taylor apparently.

Haaland's shirt ripped and they were giving a throw in rather than a free kick until they saw the rip. Textbook movement with the head to headbutt an opponent, only a yellow. I'm all for a physical battle and the game being allowed to flow, but Arsenal, and Gabriel in particular, cross the line frequently and there seems to have a free pass to do so this season. Why? Because it helps put a different name on the silverware?

I guess it just makes our victory all the more sweet, and highlights exactly why this title race is being billed as football vs anti football.

Not naive. Just not part of the clan on here who think they’re all against. I guarantee the Arsenal fans right now are fucking livid with him.
What decisions would they be livid about?
Taylor mostly let play go on with physical stuff and didn't fall for Arsenal's theatrics while both teams got decisions for and against which were mostly correct.
Did Taylor not give a clear cut decision to give a straight red to one of City's key players, meaning they would miss a large chunk of the high pressure title run in, due to 'game management' and 'protecting the product? I must have missing something like that would be livid about.
