Gabriel headbutt on Haaland

Gabriel had ripped his shirt off previously and twice in 10 seconds before the incident grabbed erl by the neck and jumped over his back.
Gabriel had to resort to grabbing and pulling Haaland because he just couldn't handle him fairly. Ripping Earling's shirt should have seen Gabriel received a yellow and the headbutt gesture is a straight red.

So next time something similar happens and the player dives I want to see a yellow card only and a yellow card for the dive

Well it is, according to the LoTG that someone kindly posted earlier..
If you enforced the LoTG to the letter we’d never get completed games as there’d be so many yellow cards it would become a farce with all the shirt pulling, pushing at corners, aggression, time-wasting etc. The officials have to try to be sensible and take into account the passion of the game. That was risky yesterday by Gabriel and on another day/ref he could get sent off but I think Taylor got it just about right.

We all know the refs are a bunch of arrogant pricks, none more so than Webb
They get so much wrong, which I accept
It’s the VAR gaslighting I can’t be arsed with
Henderson in cup final, Dalot on doku, Gabriel on erling
All clear reds that they didn’t then admit to getting wrong

The rag Taylor pretended not to see it and var pretended not to see it. I understand it was the biggest match of the season but when you just pretend Haaland was equally at fault as Gabriel it's a disgrace. It's as clear as day a motion from Gabriel that's 100% a sending off offence.

This is the same Taylor responsible for sending off 2 of our players against Chelsea after he failed to send their player off for a professional foul on Aguero when through on goal. He also sent Rodri off for raising hands against the cheating Gibbs-White. He also failed to send Dalot off in the recent derby for a clear red card kicking Doku.

You can be sure if a City player had moved his head towards an opposition player like that Taylor would have gleefully waved the red card without hesitation!

Mike dean trying to defend it was fooking comical :) folk can try and say it would have been harsh but the law says that its a red ..........sad that Erling would have had to go flying on the floor to make it happen ..........about time other teams and the officals take notice of how he reacted and punish diving bastards who go down for a lot less

It was a clear red. Should be banned for three games now.

Is there any mechanism for that to happen retrospectively though, given VAR supoosedly reviewed it, if they cleared it?

Not sure there is, think that's only where bith the ref and var missed it happening.

Come on. The two of them were having a battle all game. Yellows for both was fair.
Gabriel was walking backwards and just disengaging.

Does the two of them grappling all game give either layer the right to kick, punch, or headbutt the other? No. It has no impact on that one action and instance.

It was a clear red, there is no doubt about it. Players regularly get sent off for that, what came before is irrelevant.

Same with the earlier shirt rip foul that wasn't given. The fact they are both holding each other is irrelevant to the fact one player then fouls the other.

If one of our players had been sent off for that "headbut" most of us would have been fuming?

Lors of our players have been sent off for that, and if people were fuming, it was mostly at the players.

He pushed forward with the head. It's a red card. There's no room for negotiation on this one. The ref bottled it.

VAR must be watching the live feed in the same way the TV audience is. Everyone saw what happened first time around and didn't need to rewind. There must have been at least 30 seconds before Taylor made the bookings, so why aren't VAR in his ear immediately telling him to wait before he books Gabriel?

This was a truly horrendous decision, I’m all for letting these physical individual battles go as much as possible, yes Erling was giving as good he was getting with the grappling and strength battles, etc, but you can’t make that movement with your head and with the force and intent that Gabriel did. It’s as clear a red card as you’ll see and I’m still completely baffled as to why he only gave a yellow other than bottling a big decision.

I appreciate when we’re all neutrals in a big game you don’t want the game ruined by a sending off when the ref could’ve opted to keep all 11 players on the pitch, but this was just too obvious and I struggled to find any defence for Gabriel in that head to head. Erling was brilliant and shouldn’t need to resort to throwing himself to the ground like every Arsenal player would’ve done to get him a red card.

Terrible decision, Gabriel should be sitting out the next three games for an act of pure stupidity.
