Tough one.
He definitely improved them from when he took over.
From 2022-2024 I think they were very good and played good football, but they come up short. He changed his tactics since then, and while it's been effective, I don't think it's going to have any sustained success playing that way, even if they end up winning the league this season. But now it sort of looks like he's not really sure what he wants an Arteta team looks like and I don't believe it's a show of versatility, I think it's basically a case of "ok that's not worked, so we'll change direction" - I'm not sure that's the makings of a manager that's going to lead a team to years of success. Those kind of managers don't operate like that
So what do they do? Stick or twist?
Do you bring in someone with the risk of losing a manager who did improve you and got you back to being contenders and risk undoing that? Or still with a guy who hasn't been able to get you over the line if he fails against this season?
I think they'd have to really consider the latter and take the gamble on a new manager building on what they have.
