Gabriel headbutt on Haaland

"Deliberate Headbutts: In football, a deliberate headbutt of another player is considered violent conduct under Law 12 of the Laws of the Game. Players committing a headbutt are subject to a direct red card, and referees have the authority to take immediate disciplinary action (such as sending the player off) following the rules outlined by the FA "
That's quoting something, but it's not a "Rule 12".

was sat in top deck of east and we all saw it clear as day, absolutely flabbergasted the ref a few yards away didn’t, he did. he bottled it & the media spin that “we don’t want players been sent off for that” What violent conduct connecting with head buts on an opponent? and the other nonsense of “if Gabriel had of scored or effected the game post the incident, then it could of been problematic” completely forgetting they would be without their best centre back for 3 title run in matches where he can stop them conceding and drawing or losing matches or even more obviously he’s their main threat at set pieces & corners some would say their only only threat attacking wise, what are the odds on him having a major effect in one at least of the next 3 games, to be absolutely honest i’m fuming with the cheating officials and VAR it’s a disgrace

I think Taylor saw them coming together but I don’t think he saw the forward motion.

It’s very common for a ref to book both players if they came together. It happens every week.

I stand by my point though. Taylor had a good game and let the game flow well. He is a good ref as is Oliver. The rest are so so imo

I think he saw all of it and just didn’t seem it violent conduct.

I’ve just watched Micah say on The Rest Is Football with Lineker and Shearer that “you don’t want to see players sent off for that”. I shit you not. Micah, I know you’re never going to see this, but on the minuscule chance that you do - go fuck yourself. Once a blue not always a blue.

Surely Lineker and Shearer didn't agree?

I agree with him tbh.

What if he scores a vital goal or two in the next 3 games? That would leave us rightfully fuming
Let's make sure it has no final bearing on the title

I agree with him tbh.
You can agree with him but the precedent has been set, and it is clearly that any head butting motion is a direct red card. Not a shadow of a doubt that Gabriel should be red carded and suspended. Brutal decision from the wanker of a ref and VAR. Not to mention the yellow Gabriel should've had already for ripping Erling's shirt in half.

Not acceptable from the best league in the world. If the league wants to come out and announce that its now a yellow card offense if a player makes a stupid threatening head butt gesture but no contact is made, sure. IDGAF but it is just proper stupid for a player to do so when a red should be guarenteed. But that is not the rule, and he was let off the hook massively.

They were. Rodri vs Forrest (Sept 23)
Same heads against each other, same force only the Forest player played up for the red.
The vast majority of City fans thought Rodri was a twat for doing the head movement.

Rather ironic that the referee for that game was Mr A Taylor!

I’ve not heard a single commentator say it wasn’t a red that speaks volumes, only 2 people didn’t they need to be suspended from a few games.

I agree with him tbh.
I kind of respect you sticking to your guns on this, but you're having a mare.

As Clattenburg stated, it's a yellow card each for the head to head. The subsequent aggressive movement of Gabriel's head, upgrades his yellow to a red.

Or are you suggesting that the same sanction for both players reflects accurately on the behaviour of both players?

No it hasn’t, some refs give it, some don’t. There’s nothing saying any headbutt motion is a red card, it’s whether the ref deems it violent conduct.

Personally I don’t consider it as that as it’s more rutting stags than a headbutt for me, no one is actually going to get injured, whereas an actual headbutt they would. I get most don’t see it that way though and I said a few times yesterday, I think now they have to change the laws of the game and be a lot more descriptive with them.

Don't think it could even be done as retrospective as he was booked at the time..

Stand corrected maybe he could.... hightly doubt it, more chance of me winning the lottery
The only player I can remember being banned when they’d already been booked was Ben Thatcher

Remember Rooney walking past a Wigan player in the middle of the pitch miles away from the play and elbowing him in the face. Surprisingly he wasn’t retrospectively banned

Exactly this. It also suggests that a player has to be injured before a red card would be considered, which is absurd. It says to players that it's OK to do this as long as they make sure they dont harm the other player.

It also doesn't explain why virtually every other incident of this type, certainly that I've seen, had resulted in a red card. Did the ref get it wrong on all those other occasions then?
They should make Dermot watch every clip of a player being sent off for the same thing and then ask him to explain how they were correctly sent off and Gabriel was correctly not sent off
