20 | Bernardo Silva - 2025/26

I said before Christmas his last good game was the Madrid semi final and he should have been sold. He may have had a drop off but this farewell tour of his he's been fucking magnificent. Long may I eat humble pie.

I called him the Duracell Bernie years ago and that's exactly what he looks like now. Always moving, always showing for the ball. I think someone mentioned it last week but it's worth reiterating, that Khusanov debut where he started shakily. Every time he got the ball after he gave away that goal, Bernardo was always right in front of him so he could make an easy pass. Just cajoling him through the game. Fantastic leadership and I'm sorry I ever doubted an absolute legend in a blue shirt

They were dangerous, add another weapon and i'm surprised we haven't been using him on corners more often.

Yeh we need to knock that out of him - bring back the Joey Barton first man clearances for me.

At least we know not to get enthused by a corner...........

Fair play - not many in this world ready to sdmi they were wrong.

Me - I've made a career out of it.......

He covers more ground than any player in the PL.

He has never being quick, but stamina wise he's fitter than any of the younger players.

Maybe he’s not the sprinter like Walker but he beat Havertz for speed yesterday and outmuscled him. His little legs went like the clappers;)
 
I wish we’d have figured this role out sooner for him. He’s gone from offering not much in an attacking sense to being the most important player on the pitch because his role is to essentially be the coach on the pitch.

He’s excelled these past few months and I wonder if it’s been a case of him being so determined to end on a high rather than it fizzling out a bit.
 
When you look back of the legacy of certain players there’s certain moments or things you associate them with.

Zabaleta giving blood to the cause or Toure/Gundo coming up clutch. Kompany leading us to glory or David Silva controlling a game.

For me, Bernardo’s legacy will be the 10/10 performances he put in the biggest games against the best sides.

If I was to name the best performances I’ve ever seen from a City player Bernardo gets 3 of the top 5. The Madrid CL semi final, Liverpool in the title run in and yesterday. Utterly sublime performances.

David Silva will always be my favourite player. An utter joy to watch but I don’t think he’s the best Silva to play for City anymore and that’s the biggest compliment I can give Bernardo.
 
PFA player of the year is quite open this year. City players are often neglected, but given that Bernardo is finally getting some well earned recognition, could he be in with a shout this year?

I don't think he's been City's beat player on the whole this season. But it's difficult to point anyone in particular out... and given that it's his last season, you know!?

It'd be far less of a travesty than when briggs won it
 
I love this man and deserves a huge send off. I just hope were not forgetting Johnny Stones than man in my opinion is a legend too and a massive part of all our success. Hope they both sign off with a domestic treble
 
BBC Sports at it again. Bernardo has earned 19 trophies at City. Previously BBC said, when he announced he was leaving City, he only had 15 trophies. They didn’t seem to account for 3 Charity Shields and 1 Caraboa Cup.

Now they say, “Club legend and captain Bernardo Silva, 31, will bring the curtain down on a glorious career at Etihad Stadium this summer having won 18 trophies - so far - in nine seasons. The Portugal playmaker remains a class act and will not be short of offers.” So they are still one trophy short.
 
I posted on here a couple of weeks ago that this season, in particular since Christmas, he has been playing as well for us as at any time since he’s been here. I stand by that statement. He has been brilliant.
 
Bernie is getting more recognition. Watched Scholes and some other pundits calling him 'big-game player', 'genius', 'phenomenal', etc. Nice to see.
 
The big question for next season is who will be Pep's brain on the pitch, the role performed by DSilva -> Gundo -> BSilva. For some reason, as intelligent as he is, I don't see Rodri in the same role. I doubt any new player will be able to learn it quick enough. Cherki is capable, but too much of a maverick to do that week in week out. I am hoping Foden recovers his early season form.
