He's made atleast 3 mistakes that I can recall without needing to check as they're still vivid in my mind.

1. Real Madrid away
2. West Ham away
3. Arsenal at home

I just don't feel like arguing anymore since everyone's mind is made up. I just hope the Club makes the right call going forward because I seriously rate Trafford higher, especially in our system!

You might rate him higher but Pep and all his goalkeeping experts and other coaches clearly don’t.

A howler from big Gigi but what was Nunes doing. Arsenal baited him into it.

Nunes should have gone down the line. His throw to Gigi was bouncing and lacked pace, which gave Havertz the chance to close down quickly. Gigi should though have whacked the ball hard, first time in the direction of the other touchline rather than taking a touch. In that situation, you go safety first and consolidate your lead.

Technically the error said very little about Gigi’s ability with his feet and was simply a misjudgment of how quickly Havertz was closing in.

I have not spent ages analysing the quality of Gigi’s passes but a simple fact is that he has a very high pass completion for a goalkeeper, it was 77% overall yesterday in a game where he made 44 passes of which 20 were long ball's on which his completion dropped to 50%. Oh, and his pass completion across the season is better than Trafford’s.

Horrible mistake but fully redeemed himself. That pass to O'Riley which led to our 2nd goal, crucial double save 1v1 against Havertz and then one more big save near the end. He didn't let that mistake get to his head.

To be fair to Donna why was Nunes throwing the ball to him when we had just scored, get it up the line surely. A throw in to him is like bouncing a pass into him, to Eddie it's ok but I'm not sure the big man wanted it there.

Amazing Hart was fucked off because of his inability with feet and we got the duck egg Bravo in, spoiled by Eddie but his decision making with kicking is bad and he puts the team under pressure when we play along the back.

Thanks for posting that Jim. I missed it on the telly, if they did show it. Yes, he made a mistake but the ball shouldn’t have been thrown to him in the first place. Silva wasn’t happy with Nunes. Donnarumma saved crucially in the second half and provided a great throw out to O’Reilly, right into his path that lead up to our second goal. Donnarumma more than made up, in my book.

Agree with most of that - the only bit I take issue with is that he should have actually 'whacked the ball hard, first time in the direction of Havertz' bollocks then leaned over him and whispered "Rodders says hello" '

No one is asking for a perfect keeper but he’s only got one world class trait and it’s shot stopping. Ederson had command of his box and distribution and was never called a world class keeper.

Eddie was perfect for us. His passing was certainly world class.

No City fan is claiming that his goalkeeping skill were world class but with his feet there has never been a keeper as good as Eddie. He was perfect for us.

A neutral at work made a great point. He said yesterday shows why he’s world class. Making an absolute clanger like that, in a high stakes game, but then putting in a fantastic 2nd half, when lesser keepers would have collapsed.

We even saw it with Alisson when we won 4-1 at Anfield during lockdown. After his first mistake he kept making them and had a mental block for the rest of the game.

Stupid throw in from Nunes, throw it up the pitch, we never really throw it back to the GK from that position. It left him needing to have a perfect first touch...he couldn't turn back towards the touch line because the throw was too far towards the goal and heading away to the other side...it took too long to get to him. and gave Havartz too much time to chase GK down.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend Donnarumma as it was essentially his feck up but the angle of the throw and distance did him no favours. He had to have a perfect 1st touch and there was so little margin for error with his touch.
Good save in the 2nd half and a great throw that led to the winner.

I think you’ll find Klopp said his feet were too cold that day, so technically it wasn’t a mental block;)

Last minute, he almost made the same mistake again but got lucky the ball just went over Gabriel. Not blaming him, just want him to be more careful because from now on every opponent will rush to press or block his kick whenever he’s on the ball definitely.

After he made the mistake they were right there on him, understandingly, but for periods after they weren’t closing him down.

Also immediately after the mistake all our defenders had no issue passing back to him, they have very confidence in him.

Yeah, but my point isn’t about our defenders or confidence, it’s that he needs to be more careful not to kick the ball in the same direction as a player running toward him to block it, because this is a basic goalkeeping lesson and he shouldn’t do it again in the final minute like that or in the next few games though.
