You've missed the fact that Arsenal don't score a lot of goals and rely on set pieces. Which have dried up.We should have won by three or four tonight and that's how Pep set us up. A missed opportunity, he expects Arsenal to win their games, and wanted goal difference to be in our favour.
We were sluggish and wasteful unfortunately.
Job done points wise but it's going to be difficult with the comparative remaining games to boost our goal difference more than theirs. I personally think the league will be won on points still and that won't ultimately matter.
Onto the next game.
Additionally, and I'll credit sky with the fact as it's the only relevant thing they said all night. For some context in the last few weeks, we’ve beaten the Gooners twice, dippers, chavs and now Burnley
The season was looking a bit grim until then, punching away and looking for a treble let’s go boys and girls.
anderson from team just outside the bottom three okThank f*ck for that.
Awful performance
But top of the league.
Shows we need Anderson in the summer. Without Rodri we're rubbish.
Tell the truth for fucks sake. You’re gutted. Genuinely, positively, gutted that we won and go top of the league.Exactly. Every single person deep down knows tonight was the best chance we had to boost our goal difference and we failed. We know it, the players know it and Pep knows it. If Arsenal win their next two games and rack up 3-5 goals in the process before we play again i fear it will deflate us.
Really never have understood this narrative. We could play worse at Everton and win 3-0. Football is not an exact science and never will be, you can never know how the ball will bounce, how often a defender will get a foot in, if a keeper will play a blinder or if every other shot gets deflected, whether the opposition will play like it's their cup final or whether they'll be crap or a thousand other variations. It's called football. We missed 15-20 chances tonight and Haaland was the main culprit , but he gets a free pass because he scored the winner , we play like that at Everton and we are in big trouble , we need Rodri back for that game
Doesn’t have to be either. Tell you what though, if that’s Arsenal, Dips or Rags, in the same position, they’re being lauded by the media as having ’found a way to win’.I'm not negative. I'm happy with the 3 pts. It was the most important thing. But pretending is was awesome and flawless... Nah.
That's not really true, we had enough chances to win three games, that's a big frustration of course, but from the moment we took the lead, everything looked all a bit casual, that's something "wrong with the performance", we played like it was a friendly after going in front, but mentally that might be about the difficult game on Sunday, mentally that was pretty tough, right to the end of added time.Nothing wrong with the performance, everyone's just frustrated because the goals didn't go in. Expecting too much as usual.
So true but just before that the lady interviewer sort of bollocked Pep for looking at the highlights , he accepted it, looked at her for 30 seconds and then kept checking the highlights. That’s why we are top of the league.Do miss prime walker. Always speaks well
1-0 wins will do fine, they won't win all their matches. On current form they don't look like winning any of them.Maybe needed to give some of the squad players a start tonight.
Looked leggy after 4 tough games, but top of the league is the main thing.
Win our remaining games means we'll be scoring goals so let's hope we get enough
Look on the bright side. You’re 90 minutes closer to being dead…That’s 90 minutes of my life I won’t get back.
That’s the thing, we have 5 other games to get our GD up and if Arsenal drop any points (or they lose and we draw etc.) it might not even matter anyway.3 points. Top of the league. A few of those chances we missed go in on another night. Just one of those games. I don't expect the league to go down to goal difference, but would have been a nice cushion all the same.
We've conceded 1 goal in 5 games. Dispatched Arsenal (x2), Liverpool and Chelsea. Playing brilliantly in all games. Tonight we won away to go top of the league for the first time in 200 days. And could win the league title. Yet, you feel flat?I think we'll need Arsenal to drop points now - Come On, you Geordies!
It might be a run-in where each team gains more positive vibes from what happens to the other, rather than what they do themselves?
I'll tell you what - I'm absolutely flat after tonight, but considering our Mickey Mouse defending for the best part of this season, it's fantastic to be in this position so late on, isn't it?
