Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Burnley fans must be looking at that performance and thinking where has this been all season , i would feel cheated as a Burnley fan watching my team turn up once a season, and thats down to the manager , Parker is just a well dressed Championship manager.
Looks as if his tailor worked in Stalag Luft III and made coats from POW blankets.

People on here were saying last week a draw against Arsenal will be enough as they’ll still bottle it.

Now we’ve beaten them and won our game in hand to go above them, Arsenal are suddenly going to start smashing teams? Give over.

Same Arsenal that can't find a goal from anywhere and only got one at weekend due to a fuck up.

Newcastle go at them at weekend and they'll crumble.

It's HUGE challenge for Arsenal based on their form, not just recent but for the past 2-3 months. They've scraped several wins, late goals at Everton against the run of play, laboured in all their CL matches, only just scraped past Mansfield in the FAC, lost a 2-goal lead at Wolves.

They then had several chances to show the world they are the still team to beat then one after the other failed them miserably. Lost to us in the Carabau final, then lost to Championship side Southampton in the FAC, lost at home to Bournemouth, then lost their chance to effectively seal the title against us on Sunday.

Their season is all but in tatters and their confidence must be on the floor. They're two matches away from potentially winning nothing at all, one more PL defeat and a loss they can't overturn in the CL all but finishes them off. Tonight, losing the lead after being on top for all that time was yet another punch to the gut, make no mistake, and it's going to be some comeback to win their remaining 5 in the midst of two tough CL matches v Atletico, a comeback I don't think they're capable of even in their prime.
Simeone will take a lot our of the Goons , two very tough , tight games wouldnt be surprised if it is two goalless draws and it goes to extra time and penalties , and if they lose it will demoralise them

It waasn't only Sky, a lot of people on here expected a big win. Just read the comments back, "missed opportunity" must have been typed a hundred times.

True, because sadly it was. Look getting the three points was the main thing, but if you're connected to Arsenal you will be breathing a huge sigh of relief we didn't surge ahead in the goal difference stakes. We certainly had the chances but sadly they didn't go in. The fear is Arsenal have to play a now relegated Burnley at home and you can be sure they'll score more than one against them.

guehi has now become our akanji play maker very strange
tonight looked like a few good saves knock our confidence and the passed and passed instead of quick one touch football

To be fair to Burnley I've watched them put in some decent performances but they just haven't got the results they probably merited.
Our goalkeepers could have gone to the nearest pub for a session and knees-up with the local barstaff and not conceded a goal tonight .... Burnley looked scared to death to leave their own penalty area once they'd fallen asleep in the 5th minute and allowed Haaland a free run on goal.

Made hard work of it, but we take the win and move on. Was expecting there to be a bit of a hangover from Sunday, but some leggy, nervy performances there tonight. Would be tempted to rotate a bit on Saturday to freshen things up.
I thought some of the decision making after we went in front was poor, too much trying to run through them.

I would certainly rest a couple on Saturday, but not too many changes. I'd rest Nico OR, maybe Doku and Semenyo, even Haaland, obviously Trafford will be in goal anyway, I'd play Ait Nouri again, Nico G should start.

Well so did we at our place

Same people who were talking about Arsenal bottling it are nervous as hell and suggesting it's the team that's nervous. Absolutely clueless.

Arsenal have lost the last 4, including to us twice, and weren't convincing long before that, late 90+ min goals v Everton, struggled to get past Mansfield, laboured in their CL matches, lost a 2 goal lead at Wolves and that's before there was any real pressure on them. What's the chances of them winning their last 5?

Newcastle have been finding it difficult to get the better of any team lately ... so i wouldn't be expecting a five star showing from them at Arsenal.

A lot not happy that we didn't increase our GD, 3 points and going top for the 1st.time since august is all that matters at this stage , and both ourselves and arse will have a few more games like tonight , the big difference is we have a far better strike force than them , I don't think it's going down to GD anyway
