Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

What must nico G been thinking when he didn't start,he was brilliant before rodri came back from injury. Ait nouri was poor, O,Reilly has to start at left back every game. Main thing was to get the 3 points and put the pressure on arsenal. Massive 5 games ahead...who would of thought we would be in with a shout a few weeks ago! Bring it on!!

Happy with three points and lovely away trip to Burnley with the sun shining on the cricket ground . Great atmosphere although from where I was stood near the back I couldn't see the whole pitch . Took me back to The Kippax when play went behind a pillar . That one nil win made me think of that other a few years back when Kun scored the winner and we went in to win the league. Come on you Blues .

Wow the reaction of some on here. We’ve just come away from a very emotional game on Sunday which would have taken its toll mentally and physically and we were never gonna be totally at top of our game last night. Happens after all chumps league games. But we won and that’s all that matters. Move on and Etihad South here we come.

Just to bring a bit of maths to the shitstirring likes of Richards and rat boy. Promoting to the gullible, City should hit these for four or five tonight. As bad as Burnley have been, only five times have they lost at home all season, by a two-goal margin. Arse 0-2 Chelsea 0-2 Newcastle 1-3 WHU 0-2 and BHA 0-2. Does that not put into perspective that firstly we had to win last night? No fucker has hammered them at Turf Moor all season. To sum up GNIAC, Sky Farts are wankers and most of their commentators and so called experts are fucking clueless.

We won and were top of the league. Points in the bag are the most important thing, goal difference is a bonus. If you start thinking about goal difference that's when you slip up. Arsenal have still got to win their games and the pressure is equally on them too. They also have two tough CL games to deal with inbetween some of these league games. Let's see how they deal with teams that stick 10 behind the ball trying to hit on the counter and they have to break them down under pressure.

It did feel like a bit of tired performance though, maybe Sunday's game took more out of the players than we maybe thought. Bit too much slow football for my liking 2nd half, but Burnley sat back more 2nd half whereas it was more open 1st half. I'd rotate a fair bit for Sunday and go full tilt against Everton. Lets hope Rodri is back as he gives everyone confidence.

Did we win / turn up ? No idea whatsoever why people pay for this utter red infested rancid shit show
These bitter bastards never learn. We will ram their words back down their throats again… starting on Saturday. The same applies to some of the armchair fake fans who post on here in the match day forum.

I think it was the way we played rather than the result. I’ll take the 3 points any day but thought we were poor last night and I hope it doesn’t come back to bite us on the arse.

That Arsenal win clearly took a lot out of the players, both mentally and physically. It was an incredibly high intensity, high stakes game which was bound to have an effect on last night's performance. The squad have nine days to recover after Southampton, and we should get Rodri back in that time too. I expect us to be much sharper in the remaining games. Arsenal, meanwhile, have the two Atletico games to contend with which will surely take a toll on them.

He must be thinking I ain't good enough to warrant a start here then after all, and I'm afraid he'd be right.

Many on here think he's the new Rodri, but he isn't

Thought I'd sleep on it before posting. I found that a tough watch, mostly through my own nerves. It's always difficult when you only have a one goal advantage.
We missed Rodri, it didn't work for O'Reilly in midfield today and we improved when Gonzalez came on. Prior to that point Bernardo was doing a lot of running around covering, at times, several positions.
Doku was enterprising and managed to put a few good crosses in but Semenyo was quiet, Cherki was lively but at times it all felt a bit uncoordinated and that there was one touch too many.
It's a pity this was a midweek game, so soon after the exploits against the arse and with an FA cup semi final to come, it was a bit of an after the lord mayor's parade performance.
We got the three points though and the goal came from a good pass and Haaland took his chance well.

Saturday.

3 points and move onto the next game. Performances don’t really matter this time of season, points matter. Best part of the game was the boys in blue being belted out in the second half! Hope that’s a regular thing from our away end in the future

Great atmosphere created by the City fans which was obvious throughout the game on TV, but why are all the media outlets showing it as a pretty much sold out game when the Burnley seats looked literally half empty? That was an appalling turnout. I can't recall the cameras even focusing on the away end but kudos for the Blues there.

On the game itself, I wished I'd spent it watching TV with the wife with hindsight, what a non-event.

Proper shed of a place. Going for a pint and customary slash at HT was literally impossible

We looked so much better when Nico G came on and Nico O moved back

Correct, he isn’t the new Rodri, no one is. But he’s a very decent player and should have started in the middle, when he finally came on we looked much better.
