The Squad planning thread

I think we have a really crucial summer ahead transfers wise. Got to get this window spot on especially with the last of the old guard leaving.

Were no where near comple on the rebuild
We have confirmed Stones Bernardo leaving
Likley to leave. Ake Kovacic Marmoush Trafford
Potentially leaving Lewis Savinho
Uncertain. Nico G Reijnders Foden Rodri

Hell of a lot of rebuilding left

No one is buying Savinho certainly not at the spurs offer and I think we want see how he develops

Reijnders isn’t going so soon

Rodri is probably extending and if he goes Gonzales stays

Uncertainty over Foden is not good but if he stays which he certainly will doesn’t affect the re build since he won’t be involved in it

Won’t miss Marmoush now we have Semenyo. Just need a young striker

Will miss Trafford long term but second choice goalies are not usually especially important hard to replace or expensive

I will miss Lewis but the team won’t

Don't necessarily agree with you as regards Trafford. I feel he could genuinely push Donnarumma for the first choice keeper position.
Definitely can push him, like when Ortega was in brilliant form pushing Eddie. Trafford is even better than that.

But if he is desperate to play week in week out then fair play to him, he deserves it.

If true City want to loan him because their valuation of him is so high it definitely shows the belief we have in him and not just a Angelino where we are looking to sell for profit - it’s just hard to make it work unless one of them goes especially as Donna is only 27, if he was 32 then ok but he’s not.

Personally I think he goes out on loan because if he has a stormer of a season somewhere, ideally with European football, we can either demand that high valuation or make a call which one is better. But given how this season has gone I think it’s clear Donna is number 1.

Trafford has definitely shown more maturity and is developing really quick. I have no worries when Trafford starts because he has demonstrated he can handle the pressure.

If City, Trafford and a PL club all in agreement that he will be their first choice keeper on loan for next season it could work. 2027 Donnarumma may hear Italy calling and go home. We get a decent fee with some going to a no.2 keeper (Ederson return?) and some towards another area of the team. Italian teams would love to get Donnarumma and if he feels the pull it could all work out. At this point Trafford could be Englands no.1.

It sickens me to see the abuse from so called supporters that they dish out to some of our players. Savinho, Lewis and Reijnders for example. Foden is the latest target. Luckily they have no say and we have people who know what they’re doing in charge.
I agree. It’s a bit like fantasy football on here. Half the teams being sold according to some posters.

It would be daft if we let Foden go. World class on his day, homegrown and loves the club.

I think we definitely need one to compete with them and help alleviate pressure. Frees Phil up to play wherever and helps with having a young talent like Savio or someone else if he moves on.

IF and its a big IF imo that Anderson doesnt have a release clause then we could get Alex Scott and Maza for the price of Anderson?

Not for me,we can only play one player at a time, better paying the money for the best player in the clubs opinion not spending the same money on 2 players not as good. For me that would be Anderson. We probably have 1 year of whoever we buy playing with Rodri and being coached by Pep,important we get the player with the highest ceiling.

For next season, I think we're fine in defence and in attack but in the latter we need more rotation between games and more positional switching during games. We also have a considerable number of established players that can further improve, a task for the coaching staff.

In terms of missing pieces, we will need to replace Silva's technique and to find more midfield energy, especially when playing in Europe, but whether that comes in the shape of one player or two I'm less sure. Our biggest concern, however, should be finding someone who can help us become less dependent on Cherki.

Yeh feel like the start of next season might be similar to the Hart / Given situation. I would genuinely pull the Trigger on Trafford next year, we cant afford to lose him.

Still cant believe we turned down £35 million for Lewis, Forest would have been royally done over if they'd have spunked £70 million on him and Mcatee
