7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

I'm probably going to get pelters for this but as you said back up to erling is'nt going to get many games so you don't need a big money back up mubama on loan echeverri on loan or maybe a eds player they would get a couple games a season the eds player would be happy to get the oportunity i think echeverri has started to play a more advanced role at girona and could play a gew other roles in the team and mubama might like the chance to be back up for a srason or two
I feel that the back-up to Erling is a different formation, or someone who has come through the academy. If I ask who Real use as back-up to Mbappe, I imagine that confusion will reign, until a very young player is plucked from the memory-banks.

I have little doubt that Cherki in a false-nine would be very difficult to contain playing in front of Rodri, Gonzalez and Anderson, for example, and with Doku/Semenyo on the wings.

Like competing with Rodri, competing with Erling requires you to be world-class, and few world-class players are willing to put up with bench time most of the time.

Think the best way to do it is to get someone younger in who is able to develop while filling in on occasions. Or you get someone 34 or so who'd be happy to not play regularly.

If you get someone in who's 26 and give them daft wages to accept they're a backup, you get someone who isn't quite that level and probably never will be.

I'd like to see us go for Kroupi, different to Haaland obviously but a livewire who knows where the goal is and isn't just a striker.
And you think kroupi will sit on the bench? When he can easily start somewhere else? Also his best position is striker. Another player we would waste. He’s not a winger.

We already have the Marmoush replacement. It’ll be Semenyo and then we sign a new winger. Semenyo had a nice impact in terms of goals but I see no world where he doesn’t become a squad player. His role should be as a rotation winger and then backup striker when required.

Evanilson is their out and out striker. Kroupi can drop deeper or wide. He has play some games wide cutting in - similar to how we've used Marmoush.

Yeah, getting him may be difficult, but we're the best team around and he's young. I feel like we'd find a way to use him more often than we use Marmoush.

I hope not, he's poor playing down the middle. He's best arriving in the middle from wide, not so good when starting there. Could be right though, Semenyo has taken some of the minutes Marmoush would have expected.

The Haaland backup cannot be a striker unless we want a really shit striker. They have to primarily play out wide.

Wouldn't say "cannot". We had Alvarez and he wasn't shit.

It makes it difficult yes, but we can't base everything on Haaland always being available. Plan B needs to be good, because he could get injured.

So like I say, I'd prefer a proper young striker with potential, or someone early/mid 30s who can fill in. Kroupi was the young player who came to mind because I think he's good enough, but I know we've been strongly linked with a young Brazilian striker too (can't remember the name and never seen him play).

Not sure we will try and shift him because finding back up for Haaland is hard.I do think he’ll want to move though and we wouldn't stand in his way.

I think we will purely because of his earnings and how little he has produced. You can't perform like he did yesterday on his wages.

As much as people are saying Kroupi, I don't think it really makes sense.

Semenyo can play as backup 9 AND play either wing. That's the only depth we need.

Then we have false 9 as a 3rd option, we aren't going to meaningful convince a young hot prospect to be a backup, even across all positions.

I'd rather get a proper winger in Diomande to upgrade the winger spot, as its impossible to upgrade on Haaland. And Diomande can play both wings like Semenyo.

Highly doubt we will see him again this season, (or maybe ever) pep was losing his shit when he missed yet another chance and subbed him off pronto.
Another one with a big smile though, is our chief scout a dentist by any chance?

yeah , a really good winger is a must for this team to take another step towards becoming true powerhouse again.

Really disappointed with him yesterday, was hoping for a good showing when I saw his name on the team sheet.

Agreed. Any ‘striker’ that comes in will always play second fiddle to Haaland. Simple as that. And rightly so, he’s a freak of nature and should stay on the pitch every game if we need a goal.

Semenyo’s profile is the one we need to target again - primarily a winger but can play centrally if required.

Pep won’t go to two up top while he has Cherki thriving centrally behind the striker. Won’t have 3 people occupying the same space.

Marmoush was a panic buy. And that’s fine because it arguably worked to get us CL football. And I thought he’d be able to play out wide because of his pace, work rate and genuine goal threat but it doesn’t seem to work. In Pep’s eyes anyway. Because I think he’s actually quite good there. Just not as good or reliable as Doku or Semenyo.

Our next buy could be that lad from Newcastle, Lewi Smiley

Same here, I suppose it's difficult to be match sharp when he's not had a sniff for a while,
Would have liked to have seen more from him, as we all would have. Thought Kovacic was good from the start, been out for months.
