Hegseth got schooled again yesterday but nothing ever happens in these meetings with congress, absolutely pointless. The lies and incompetence is unbelievable I’m hoping in years to come history lessons will be about how this administration forced changed in the system for the better, but I doubt it.

The idea that gentlemen would agree to the norms and precedents set by their Founding Fathers worked great until the Right Wing Cabal pulling the strings told Trump “there’s no rule or law that says you can’t do that, only norms and precedents, which you can ignore for fun!”

Their idea of a Unitary President is being rolled out in front of our eyes, and Trump is even having pics taken with King Charles and the White House’s OFFICIAL website is posting “TWO KINGS!” as the heading!

Now, I’m sick of saying this, but “imagine if Obama had done that!” What would Republicans be doing…and more importantly, what would right-minded Democrats be doing?! EXACTLY!

I had a mate who worked for VSO in Zambia. AIDS is a big problem

Zambia has a generalized HIV/AIDS epidemic, with a national prevalence of around 11.3% among adults aged 15-49, particularly affecting the Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces. The government offers free antiretroviral therapy and has over 1.3 million people on treatment.

When I first learnt how prevalent it was in some African countries I was genuinely shocked, partly at how uninformed I'd been on the topic but mainly that it isn't treated with the urgency we saw with something like COVID. There are nations that really are dependent on medical assistance to avoid the collapse of entire demographics.

In Eswatini 1 in 4 people in the adult populations has HIV/AIDS.

I think as humans we really do have to pull together to tackle viruses/diseases, perhaps not everybody would agree, but I think it's one of our core duties as a species. Whether you live or die should not depend on where you're born. Shamefully, the support we provide to Africa to tackle things like malaria and HIV is actually pretty meagre in the grand scheme of things. When you consider Africa is a continent that Europe historically plundered for its own benefit, out of the trillions that governments spend in Europe, we provide <0.1% in health assistance to African nations.

For Trump to effectively blackmail Zambia with taking away even the small amount the US gives in order to plunder them even further is shameful. But then so is nearly everything Trump does. I don't think shame is an emotion that exists any more in the USA.
