North Stand expansion | Trial Event - Wed 20th May (p110)

I hope they give those who have registered an interest in moving a chance to trial it for the Villa game, all though I'm not sure they have enough time to coordinate that now?

I’m guessing £25 for a NSL2 adult tickets.

OAP, 18-21, and kids a lot cheaper.

We could even see FA Cup ticket prices?

City have to shift 8000 tickets in a couple of weeks.
Fully agree and the fact that ultimately it won't be the finished product,
"Should the test event be successful, the next phase will see us trial 100% capacity at the final Premier League home match of the season against Aston Villa. Hospitality areas, the fan zone and the wider Medlock Square development will open later in 2026. "

I'm presuming that for the Villa game it'll be limited once in the stadium and won't look anywhere like the finished thing compared to what it will be for the first match of next season

Looks like it could be only be free food with a soft drink, or an alcoholic drink, it isn't clear.

"Unlike on a typical Men’s matchday " there will be no match.

They're not trying to make money on it. I assume they are charging a price so that everybody that buys a ticket, actually turns up.

if it's free and half the people who take a ticket on the off chance they might go, don't bother, then they won't even pass the safety test the whole thing is designed for.

Charging a fiver but then giving the value of the entrance fee and more back in food and drink is easily the most consumer friendly way of doing it.

should be praised for it rather than slated.
Well said

Free parking.
Free food.
A free drink.
Entertainment.
Player appearances.
Prize draws.
The chance to look around and to sit in the new North stand first, if you are thinking of moving there.

I really don’t understand what all the £5 fuss is all about.
The chance to experience a drum, a tiff, flares, and a continental atmosphere?

Better be a warm evening.

What will the new capacity be next season? Over 60,000 is frequently mentioned. Formally, I think it will be 61,958, but we are incurring huge losses at the front of the top tier of the South Stand due to areas being taped off. That looks like overkill to me. We could get close to 61,958 if we review that. There's some discrepancy between the planning app. which talks of 7,910 seats, and City's current comms. which refer to 7,000 plus. Perhaps the difference is the sky bar at the back of the new stand? That looks like it might hold around 800 seats? The range for the max. attendance is between 60,000-61,958. The current max attendance this season is around 52,600 but that includes some loss of seating due to the construction which we will recover. If you start with 52,600 and add 7,910, the losses from the back of the current North Stand, which we will recover, and if we open the front rows of the South Stand top tier you can get close to 61,958.

At most games, the Etihad is quiet like most Premier League stadiums, but for some matches e.g., Arsenal it has been very good, and it's about to get better. From a distance, the new stand looks great, and just like the models presented when there were arguments about a 2 or 3 tier extension.

Do they really need a fuckin fiver though. Why charge it?

It's ridiculous.
the safety test is a legal requirement in order to get the stand approved for use. If folk - on the day - just don’t bother using a free ticket, the whole exercise is null and void.
If you pay, you’re more likely to go & in effect you get your money back when you go in via the offers.

I would like to check the view from the top corner seats. I'd also be interested to know how big the concourse is. I think it's likely to be large, because the stand entrances are set low in the stand.

Yeah that's something I'm curious about. I remember a while back some pictures were posted on here from the very top corner seats, and from that perspective it seemed the far corner of the pitch was blocked by the roof/overhang. Hopefully that was just the perspective of the camera shot, as it would be negligent to spend so much on am expansion that includes restricted view seats.

I’m assuming wrongly or rightly the football media will be invited to have a look around the stand before the test event to show City fans and the football world what it looks like?
