I think it is a done deal except for the price ,various people are claiming a purchase clause but don't see that as being in place following what happened with MGW.

We have to act because if he stays in this league and thrives elsewhere, it's the kind of decision we'll look back on with real regret.
People will dismiss him, label him "the emperor's new clothes," suggest the hype outweighs the substance. I don’t see that at all. What I see is a player with the core traits you simply cannot manufacture - drive, resilience and a relentless mentality. Those qualities are rare, and they're often the difference between good players and truly elite ones. The difference between Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne.
That same hunger is what sets players like Declan Rice apart, and you can see how far it's taken him despite being less naturally gifted and technically inferior to Elliot Anderson. Anderson has that edge too with the quality to go with it. Perhaps he's still developing technically, but the foundation is there and it's a foundation you build success on.
Letting that go, especially to a rival, wouldn't just be a risk. It would be a huge mistake.
We have to pay the premium.

I think the fee will be agreed in the background before being made public. It will do neither club any good in having protracted bargaining with it being a world cup year. If it does not happen prior to players going to states I fear it won't be done as no doubt if we want players in it becomes harder the closer it gets to the transfer window closing.

May be important, may be irrelevant but it was Txiki who walked away from deals like that - not Viana. They could have a different ethos.
Txiki was very much a 'fuck off, we have other targets' type of bloke whereas Viana - supposedly - is very much a 'I want him and I'll get him' type of bloke.
