Pep to leave at the end of the season

Perhaps with tried? Or perhaps Pep hasn’t been sure on his decision so they have to go for someone like Maresca who isn’t currently employed. You can’t promise Vinnie the job if Pep has been undecided.
Perhaps we did. Perhaps we didn’t. Perhaps the whole rumour of Pep getting off is bollocks. Perhaps the Maresca rumour is even bigger bollocks.

I stand by this mate - going from Pep to Maresca would make going from Baconface to Moyes look like a masterstroke.

We have suddenly changed the tone of discussion to sounding like 'this' has been planned and known for months, i.e that Maresca is replacing Pep and it's all done.

Yet just a week ago, he was reportedly in talks with Napoli, and by all accounts close if not broadly agreed if Conte leaves.

Pep was unique in that he is truly elite with tactics as well as motivation.
You usually get a manager who is one or the other. Klopp for instance was all about motivating the players.
No matter who we get they wouldn’t be pep. He is the best to ever do it imo
use of the past tense here is perhaps rather premature

Agree, although Moyes was a far more established and experienced manager then than Maresca is now.

Yes, but that doesn’t mean much, Moyes failed as did other bigger names at united yet a manager relegated from the PL is now the manager everyone want and might be going to a CL final. Failing with one club and he hardly failed at Chelsea doesn’t make somebody the wrong man for a well run club like City.
I have my preferences and still don’t expect Pep to go but Maresca intrigues me because a lot of thought will have gone into who comes next, rather than worries me.

Hope it isn’t true but suspect it is, just got a feeling Maresca might surprise a few people, and no he isn’t my first choice, but then I don’t know who is!

It does, in the context of the exchange.

By that logic then however, Moyes and Ole might smash it here too and be top choices. But I do get your point, and I think I have been reasonably balanced with my takes on this whole thing.

Fwiw, I am prepared that the club might want maresca and see something in it, and I'll back that and get on board. I am not convinced it is the case though. And my reservations are there. I actually thought Chelsea were nuts to go for him when they did, and only did so because they thought he might turn out to be a poundland Pep. And while as a manager he turned out to be better than I expected, as a person he turned out to be a bit of a fud. But mostly, I hope and believe Pep will stay. Saying that I had reservations about pellers, and that turned out fine.

Anything after Pep is a downgrade but very surprised we've gone for Maresca (if true).
Obviously the powers that be see something in him that isn't obviously apparent when you look at his record thus far

Why would we just tread water until the day Kompany comes back ? Sorry if that's not what you mean
Kompany - no great PL record (although not a great side he had). Not difficult to win the German league.
Enrique - No PL track record (not had the opportunity)
Alonso - No PL track record (not had the opportunity)
Maresca - Probably the best PL track record.

Who knows ?

Before Pep came here -

No PL record
Won the German league "not difficult to win"

What if Peps contract was 1 year but with the option of a second, it would mean he's not breaking his contract he's just deciding not to do the second year?
