Benny Hill, yes or no

He made seaside postcards come to life and was a master of slapstick and obsevational comedy.

There is a reason clips of his still show across the internet, this type of bawdy comedy has been arpund since civilation began and is timeless, modern purotanical attitudes will not dimish its appeal.

Most of us who don’t like him seem to have not liked him back then either, so it’s not about how attitudes have changed in my opinion. He was just always old fashioned to me.

It always felt like his shows weren’t as varied as shows such as Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies or even Dick Emery (I never really liked him), and the sketches never looked as slick on ITV than on the BBC back then both in the quality of the supporting actors and the sets.

not liking him then is expected as of today not everyones type of smutty humour, but I doubt he would get approved a telly show chasing women in stocking round or feeling a pair of tits in a daft scenario today.

As I said seaside postcards in 3D was his shows gimmick, M&W, Dave Allen and two ronnies. sketch and stand up styles were more my thing too.

Its a no from me

I'm sure he would have been upset about that

What was the deal with every single middle aged bloke having his theme tune as a polyphonic ringtone back in the Nokia days?

Benny Hill certainly was an oddball. Still stayed in his council flat to the very end. Had drawers full of uncashed cheques. Lived very frugally - no luxuries. His only extravagance was foreign trips - usually France - where he would sit in a pavement cafe watching street life which he could incorporate in his act. He didn't have any known normal romantic liaisons but there is some evidence that several Hells Angels were persuaded 'to be nice to him' by giving oral sex.

I read somewhere that he had proposed to a number of women, all of whom turned him down!

He certainly lived a frugal life. Never owned a house or car despite his wealth.
