Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Common theme amongst some of our players. Same at the Etihad too. Do our back room staff check the surface beforehand and advise the players on type of studs/footwear; or do the players decide for themselves? If it’s the latter, then some players, Nunes, Semenyo and Marmoush are repeatedly making the wrong choices. When I played, our management would be on the pitch beforehand, checking it out and advising the lads accordingly.
They warm up on the pitch for 20 minutes before a game. Absolutely no excuse for falling on their arse in the first 10 minutes of a game. These modern pitches are heavily watered before games nowadays. Players really should know how it is underfoot.

Some of it makes me think its a boot manufacturer/style problem. Cos not everyone was slipping. Just a certain few.

me too, our parky at Plant Hill fields would often prod the swamp with his fork to ensure efficient drainage!

Agree mate, the players I mentioned seem to suffer more than others; that’s why I’m wondering if they make their own choice on suitable footwear.

Anyone mentioning the frustrated fans leaving early at 3 -1 down and asking why are they leaving and suggesting they shouldn't have tickets should go to an away game and see how many people are on the concourse and bogs whilst the game is on. Because of tablets I am on I have had to go to the loo during the game last night and at Burnley 5 minutes into the second half. I had to literally dodge hundreds of people to get to the overcrowded smoking room where the urinals were overflowing! My message is don't criticise people leaving their seats, ask how the people who stay on the concourse all game drinking and others drinking and smoking in the bogs get tickets. They deprive fans who would watch the match and cheer the team on of tickets.

Actually made me really positive that we got a point out of that last night. Could have lost all of it and they still have to play West Ham away and Palace away. I still think they're gonna win it which is gonna sting but we did well to get back level last night

listening to media it's city's fault arsenal have turned into prime brazil and walking premier league and champions league and there was me thinking theres another 19 teams that couldve stopped them winning the league

Underwhelming

I’d heard great things about it but off the TV my first impression was that I couldn’t see what the fuss was all about

After finally seeing it in the flesh my first impression was correct
I only got to see the highlights but that’s how it struck me

My main concern with Guehi is that he does have a tendency to want to play ‘high’ up the pitch when we are in possession; however when we invariably play one pass too many and it’s turned over, he struggles to get back. He doesn’t have the pace of Khush, Nunes or Stones. We need to address this next season. Positionally he is sound defensively.
If he's playing that way it's because he's being told to - if not Pep would be bollocking him every time

City was fantastic first half but the nerves got the better of them…they seemed to collapse after Everton equalised if that happened to arsenal we would of got ruined in the press and rival fans the title race is still very close Arsenal can easily lose vs West Ham or draw then we back to goal difference can swing anyway still city still very much In it….that late goal is giving me worries

Aye we did and Sky and the football media cane down heavy in how unfair it was and the rules were changed pronto. Now forgive me if ive missed it but nobody is banging on this morning about how unfair it was that a clearly offside player can then immediately come back onside and score a goal and somehow not be deemed to be interferring with play.
Difference was, our striker came from an offside position and nicked the ball off the defender, whereas Guehi passed it to their striker, making him onside. I was surprised our goal was given, I wasn’t surprised Everton’s was.

You could argue that if Barry wasn't interferring with play then why was he in a position to gain advantage from an error on our part. It wasn't like he had ran 20 yards away he was still stood within a few feet of Guehi so that surely has to be 'in play'. If Guehi's pass had gone to another Everton player who hadn't been initially offside then I don't think we would have a leg to stand on or if the pass had been made say 30 seconds later but it didn't and it fell directly for the one player who had just stepped back onside. Im sure it was at Anfield where var went back about 30 seconds to find a Haaalnd foul in a different phase of play to cancel out our goal. I could be wrong?

Those fans om here who often disrespect other teams by predicting 5-0 score would be very surprised with the scoreline yesterday.

Been done to death, but how the f**k do opposition players consistently avoid punishment against us?

We have been shafted so many times this season, it can't be anything other than 'strategic'.
Refs are human and know stiffing City is never going to work against them. When you look at the string pullers in Premier League and UEFA they are pretty much all cartel shills. City are probably one of the easier teams to ref cos we aren’t pulling dirty tricks all game, but, there’s too much to be gained by letting opponents kick the shit out of our players. Plus the media is fully aligned to attack City and a line up of ex refs happy to tow the cartel line on Sky etc
