Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Silva should have sat in with Gonzales help him out as usual he was all over the pitch trying to do to much! That’s only for me is weakness trying to do everything help everyone out!

I would guess last night was about a collective lack of experience/composure. The axis of Khusanov, Guehi, Nico G between them were playing their own games fighting their own battles. None of them in that moment had the experience/nous/quality to help the others. That's what Rodri does without thinking, it's what Bernardo does, it's what Gundo used to do too. Smelling the danger and smelling when to calm everything down.

I know it's harsh but I thought Nico G was particularly poor last night for the whole time he was on the pitch. Slow, cumbersome, inviting pressure, and providing zero protection for the two CBs.
We couldn’t match their physicality particularly apparent during that 10 minute spell they scored twice. Even Khusanov was bullied into conceding possession in the play that led up to Guehi’s last ditch tackle for the corner that resulted in their second. Haaland was eased out at the corner by Jake O’Brien.
We’re just too fucking nice…..

It's not only about experience. We controlled them in the first half pretty well.

The problem is that when Rodri isn't there to control the midfield play and secure the balance between defence and attack, the players have to run more to compensate for his absence and then get tired in the 2nd half. We pressed them very well in the 1st half but couldn't do it in the 2nd half as we weren't sufficiently fresh. And we weren't sufficiently fresh partly because our possession play wasn't good enough, we couldn't keep the ball sufficiently long and had to chase it.

Yes but when the nerves kick in for a title chase run in Rodri is essential as much for his presence as his ability, players like Guehi, Nunes Khusonov, O’Reilly as well as Gonzalez have never been here before and whatever the outcome will benefit from it. It’s why if fit Dias and Rodri would be playing every game now.

‘Dias’ is an Instagram footballer now. Never peaked and won’t be a mainstay again.

He’s still a very good defender, especially under pressure, if he was fit he’d be playing. Dias is another player bluemoon has invented a nonsense myth around.Luckily Pep knows better than to take any notice of the internet..
Very good defender I agree with. The rest is self indulgent shite. Shouldn’t be a mainstay next season. Bit of a lumper. Pep probably spends more time on the internet than you me and your fanny wipes put together.

Dias is criminally underrated on here. Can't explain why because our record with him in the team is excellent. Apparently, many prefer to believe in theories that have little in common with reality. Embarrassing stuff.

Pretty sure when Peps looking for ‘leaders’ next season to guide a younger more inexperienced team with Bernardo gone he’ll be looking at Rodri, Haaland and Dias. Only need to see when he’s available Pep plays him.

I know we have a lower possession %age than Pep’s previous teams, and sometimes that might be from allowing the opposition to have the ball more, but that’s not really what we do, I think it’s because we give the ball away more.

This has been a problem all season. We give the ball away too much. I’d love to see if there’s a stat to show how many minutes/passes we used to keep the ball for in stretches compared to our current team.

Before they ever got aggressive. We clammed up and started playing negative football. Starting with Cherki always playing back. No matter how much space he had. Doku was getting the ball and strangely began passing back to Guehi. NOR stopped overlapping Doku...

It almost felt instructional :( Like they were instructed to keep possession, rather than simply attack.

No felt like nerves and fear of making mistakes set in.

We mostly start to struggle in second half with our passing and possesion ,when teams up their intensity and physicality and start pressing more ,rather than sit back. Then some mistakes start to happen ,they can attack us much more and some players crumble under the pressure, that has happened most of the times we have lost points this season.

We don’t like physical sides who run at us.

If Rodri goes we will be fucked. He has to stay with Bernado going

It probably has a lot do how the team can play out of the back then and keep the ball under pressure and those current players ,starting from gk and defenders are much worse compared to our best teams. Same could say about our midfield ,just not that high quality.

Disappointing if it was instructional not least because we needed to improve our goal difference but it also invited them to press higher and we don’t seem to be able to cope with a high physical press. We should have kept on doing what worked in the first half and we would have scored more as they tired

I don't know if it was but it was strange. Granted we used to be a 2nd half collapse team for a good portion of the season. So It might simply have been that trait rearing its head again.

I thought we had finally exercised the 2nd half drop off demon. I guess it reappeared.

We need to play like PSG at home the rest of the season. All out attack all the time.
