Just put Marmoush in a wig problem solved
True but we’re being blackmailed into paying her £1 million per year according to media - which Chelsea are happy to do as they don’t care.
This should be investigated
WHY ?
The best striker in the game is worth whatever somebody is willing to pay
I'll be more interested in who is selected on Sunday.A real issue in play here to discuss, if Shaw has indeed sorted herself a move off to Chelsea, is do City actually start her on Saturday?
Shes basically more than halfway outside the tent now which is a shame but an issue Im sure Mr Jeglertz will address correctly, based on his knowledge of the player involved. If he thinks she will give it her all and is sufficiently committed he obviously lines her up but the knowledge shes buggering off to the team we are playing against on Saturday, may effect both player and the squad. Will be interested to see the selection on Saturday. With Miedema sadly dealing with a personal issue we are very short up front so probably have little choice, but if Bunny plays like a parks duffer at the weekend with this news coming out it wont be a good look.
Reminds of the time Bayern "announced" they were signing Goetze and Lewandowski before playing Dortmund in the CL final in 2013 - a grade A example way of knobbling of the opposition.
It’s not really a case of making sure we don’t lose one player, however good she is. It’s how other players - if you’re trying to create a great team spirit - will react to a 29 year old being offered £1 million in order to get her to stay.Winning silverware and titles cost money ? You should build on success and not let your best striker leave for free
Look City can budget a deal with marketing also with sponsorships and image rights ?
City should not be silly to lose a major player and one of the best strikers in the game because of an extra year or so on her contract
There are others in the team that make it possible for Bunny to score. I just think it causes problems. Sure, have a high pay rate for best players but I believe the current highest pay is about £100,000 a year. A long way off £1 million.WHY ?
The best striker in the game is worth whatever somebody is willing to pay
If I had my way she wouldn't be leaving, she's too good to let go .... her goals win games and points, 19 goals this season alone.
I agree she will be a huge loss but at least she is not a young high flier and I think your first sentence is a bit over dramatic. (Unless you meant over for her if she leaves us!) We have a great manager who the players seem to like.If she goes to Chelsea or Arsenal, it's game over for winning more silverware in England. Simple
Look, I don't know the ins and outs of the women's game and players' wages, but I heard it is nowhere near £1million a year ? I also think there may be a player wages cap set up by the Women's Super League ? I think the most was way under £100.000 a week and around £50.000. So if somebody is handing out £1million a year then there is a problem
I was in the Manchester City we must keep camp, but if this is true about the offer and City are never going to match or get close to it, I truly understand City in this ? Like somebody else who pointed out, how can you give silly money to one player and keep the other players happy and not downing tools
Chelsea don’t appear to be constrained by financial matters in either the men’s or women’s game. If Shaw wants to go let her. We will need to bring in a decent replacement, but we need to work within our budget and keep a balanced squad. Shaws departure will be an opportunity for someone - not least Mary Fowler.
I think firstly we must address a truth here that we have no idea what Bunny and her agent are asking for in terms of salary, nor do we have much of an idea what other elite international players in the City squad are earning - and there are quite a few who come under that category. It may be considered that re-signing Bunny on a salary that dwarfs that of the rest of the squad might cause an awful lot of friction in the dressing room. Indeed it might. Would it be ok for Bunny to be earning twice as much as, say, Lauren Hemp? I personally don’t think so. There is no doubt that Bunny is both an excellent player and a great role model for the booming women’s game. There will have been a million young girls who have looked at her and decided to give the game a go. With that comes her value as a brand ambassador for a queue of companies who recognise her selling potential. Those million young girls all want a pair of boots to get started and they’ll want the ones Bunny wears. But this commercial potential is all about her not the club. If succumbing to unrealistic demands (if that’s what they are) will disrupt a title winning team who are aiming higher next season then a regretful farewell may be the result. As much as I don’t want her to leave I’d admire the club for taking a stand.
