9 | Khadija Shaw

Haaland our striker earns 10x Doku our left winger?

Hemp(LW) has 1 goal this season, can't really bemoan our 4 times top scorer, 3x WSL top scorer in a row being paid more.

Shaw's game isnt built around pace or anything so she could comfortably play into her mid 30s at top level. Can't really wrap head around not giving her a longer contract
Perhaps they know summat we don’t.

I think coming to City has made her and put her on the map. Was there a queue of clubs for her when we sign her. We've given her a proper family club to join, class facilities to train at, and more importantly being fed by the likes of Hemp and Caspari.

She'll be as equally indebted to us as much as we will be to her for her goals

With regards to Doku, forget about the 10 x more
Including his Nike deal, he'll be earning in the region of £10m a year and if he keeps progressing, his basic salary will more than double
In the men's game, it's so well paid they should concentrate on themselves, not what others are earning

In Shaw's case, if it's the difference between a well paid job for a further three years, or absolute life changing money, she has to take the second option. We all would

From what I've read, she seems very happy here, and I think under normal circumstances, she'd happily sign a new deal. But if the rumours are true about her getting something like 10 times her current salary, she'd be mad to turn that down

We are all humans; an offer like that is crazy to turn down or even impossible to say no to.
The only question will be how many more could leave if City are not paying top dollar in wages

This season we've seen Greenwood, Mary Fowler, Yui all sign new contracts. I think we'll be okay paying what we pay.

If Chelsea want to pay a ridiculous amount then let them. If I were Lauren James I'd be knocking on the door asking for a pay rise.

This is what makes me slightly suspicious about this £1m rumour. It seems so far above what most players in the league are getting that it potentially blows all contract negotiations at every club into turmoil, as it won't just be Chelsea players that'll be banging on doors looking for parity/increases

If she goes to Chelsea or Arsenal, it's game over for winning more silverware in England. Simple

Look, I don't know the ins and outs of the women's game and players' wages, but I heard it is nowhere near £1million a year ? I also think there may be a player wages cap set up by the Women's Super League ? I think the most was way under £100.000 a week and around £50.000. So if somebody is handing out £1million a year then there is a problem

I was in the Manchester City we must keep camp, but if this is true about the offer and City are never going to match or get close to it, I truly understand City in this ? Like somebody else who pointed out, how can you give silly money to one player and keep the other players happy and not downing tools

Ellen White was Ellen White until she wasn't. At the age of twenty nine her skills could diminish quickly. Or perhaps not. I don't know the contract details, obviously, but at her age I personally wouldn't offer her a long term contract (over three years)on huge wages.

£100,000 is about $21.5 million Jamaican dollars. I don't know what things cost there but I'm guessing you can live like a king/queen on that money in Jamaica. Your family would be well cared for too.

Fowler is class and will be our poster player if Shaw leaves.
She's 6 years younger and has so much talent.

Fowler is class , but for players making a real difference Bunny Shaw takes some beating .... her goal rate is outstanding, she's such a powerful asset to have upfront, and she'll be sorely missed if she leaves ... a player like her can only strengthen what the likes of Chelsea women already have, should she go there, and that's the last thing we want to see.

These talented girls are not only a real credit to the new coach, but also to City as a club, and they are worth looking after ....

Let’s look at what happens if Bunny does depart to Chelsea….Sam Kerr is out of contract. Has she signed a new deal? Would she want to hang around at Stamford Bridge once Bunny is brought in on the salary that has been mentioned? Could she be heading north when Bunny goes south?

Pretty widely known that Sam Kerr is leaving Chelsea. Turns 33 at the start of next season too. I expect she'll end up in the US given her wife is from there and they just had a child

Going to live in London will cost you 25/50% more than Manchester so unless it’s a massive increase she isn’t going to be that much better off

Yep, it's expensive to live there, although if she's earning the kind of money that's being talked about if she joins Chelsea, she could maybe afford it ..... she's a terrific player though, and it would be really sad to see her leave, but, at 29 years of age, she might argue that leaving a club after a title win is the best time to do it, to seek a fresh challenge in a new place.

But asked about her future, Shaw kept her cards close to her chest, telling Metro: ‘For me, I have two more games at least. And then obviously, it depends on what happens with the game on the weekend [City’s FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea].

‘But for me, I just want to finish the season strong with Man City, and then we hope for the best and see what happens.’

Sounds like a farewell to me.
