City bus scheme for home games

The M17 bus from Victoria to the Etihad left just after 11.45am yesterday and it was much better for it. I got into the ground at 12.15 and had time to use the toilet and get a Bovril before going down to my seat and being under the ESL0 display.

When it’s left 45 minutes before KO a few other times, I’ve missed the start of the game if traffic has been bad.

Hopefully this continues!

Just a reminder to ONTHERUNWITHTHAKSIN and others of the changes which will be in place on the match day buses for this Sunday’s game.

The Manchester Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, necessitates a significant number of road closures which will impact journeys to the Etihad for the match.

Booth Street West Park and Ride will also be unavailable for use. Instead, we will be offering a Park and Ride option from Belle Vue School. This will also be available for the remaining home matches this season [Brentford, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa].

We have had to alter the routes for the following match day bus services: MC1, MC2, MC5, MC6, MC9, MC9X, MC10, MC12, MC16, MC16H and MC17.

  • MC1 - Will now stop at Co-op Academy Belle Vue pre and post-match.
  • MC2 - Will now stop at Co-op Academy Belle Vue pre and post-match.
  • MC5 - Due to road closures, we will be unable to serve Timperley and Brooklands on MC5 pre-match. MC5 will operate as normal on the journey home and stop at all the usual stops – as the road closures will have been lifted at this point.
  • MC6 - Will now stop at Co-op Academy Belle Vue pre and post-match.
  • MC9 - Will serve all the stops as normal, but the journey will be longer.
  • MC9X - Will serve all the stops as normal, but the journey will be longer.
  • MC10 - Due to road closures, we will be unable to serve Hale, Altrincham and Stretford on MC10 pre-match. MC10 will operate as normal on the journey home and stop at all the usual stops – as the road closures will have been lifted at this point.
  • MC12 - For the Arsenal game, and subsequent fixtures, we will be slightly re-routing MC12 to improve efficiency. There is no impact to the stops, or to fans, but this should improve journey times.
  • MC16 - Will only operate between Piccadilly Station and the Etihad.
  • MC16H - Will only operate between Piccadilly Station and the Etihad.
  • MC17 - MC17 has now been extended to begin in Leigh, with additional new stops in Atherton, Walkden and Swinton. MC17 will no longer stop at the A580 Park and Ride, but MC11 will continue to do so. This is in place for the Arsenal match, and the other three remaining home fixtures [Brentford, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa].
Full details of the changes to the match day bus service are available on the TfGM website.

There will also be changes to normal Bee Network services (5, 5B, 11, 15, 18, 23, 25, 30, 41, 42, 42B, 43, 50, 53, 79, 85, 86, 101, 102, 103, 111, 142, 143, 150, 197, 245, 247, 248, 249, 250, 255, 256, 263, 280, 282, 283, 284, 285, 286, 287, 288, 370, V1 & V2) and trams on the Altrincham line are expected to be much busier, so please leave plenty of time for travel. Full details here.

Is mc17 running, today?

Just tried to book my ticket through the City site an it says this:

Booking is only available for the Victoria and Piccadilly shuttle buses.
Hello, yes the bus is running and you can just pay the driver. I will pick up with City why this isn't working. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Due to station improvement works taking place at Middleton Bus Station, stand E will not be available for the remainder of the season. MC15 will now depart from stand C. Thank you for your understanding.

Due to a road closure on Sunderland Street, Match Day Bus 8 will not serve Macclesfield Train Station stop. Services will instead begin operating from the bus stop on Churchill Way near majestic wine and Tesco

This was a total shambles. Left my seat dead on time and walked round to the buses. They had all left and one of the wardens said there were: “only ten buses” available. These are the shuttle buses back to town. This was at about 7.40pm. A pathetic service. Dozens of people, many disabled, were abandoned. All the staff vanished very quickly. We eventually got a taxi which took over an hour in the gridlock, cost £16.80 and meant we missed out trains.
