Somewhat agree. Nico is young and may improve - perhaps by a lot.

From a squad perspective, going into next year: Rodri may leave. B. Silva will definitely leave. Kova will likely leave. We're likely to sign E. Anderson. But given the departures, I think that Gonzalez will be a valuable backup at CM.

Kova is 100% worth keeping.

I phrased it poorly. It wasn't intended to criticise lack of effort. Certainly would like to see him turn into the quality player we require in that role. But I have my doubts.

I too have some doubts. It seems that aside from Rodri all of our other midfielders while good players are limited in one way or another. That means Nico G, NOR, Reijnders, Kovacic, and yes Bernardo too. They are all exponentially better with Rodri on the pitch but very much less effective when Rodri is not available. For instance, I love Bernardo but it's no coincidence that his recent renaissance corresponded with Rodri's return to good health and form. About 18 months ago someone said Rodri was the most important player to his team's success in world football. No truer words were ever spoken...

He dropped rodri a lot at the tail end of his first couple seasons. But it doesn’t look good.

Blues massively overrate him. He isn’t good enough. He’s a last resort to play in midfield even when Rodri is out - that should say it all. He’ll leave in the summer, where I really think we need to be buying 3 midfielders and having a midfield we actually trust.

He's not Rodri but he also hasn't been afforded the opportunity to look good playing alongside Rodri and when the Ballon D'or winner isn't there we look a hell of a lot better with Nico in the middle than with someone else.

let me spell it out for you if and big IF Reijnders had blinder yesterday scored and got MOTM everyone on here creaming themselves and we shouldve played him there weeks ago
we wouldnt know because like pep says quiet often it's my fault not not giving him minutes yesterday like it or not was ideal game to try things out

At home to a decent prem team when needing a result with 3 league games left to go is definitely not a time to try things. The first half was poor and the reindeer was utter gash. 80% of this board were surprised he didn’t pick Nico. He played Bernie who is leaving in 4 games instead of a lad who was bought in to play as a 6 and has done very well when trusted.

I think he's decent. He wasn't great against Everton but he wasn't alone. Apart from that, I've always though he's been good. Loved his goal in the semi final.
