6 | Nathan Ake - 2025/26

I don't know another player who can simply step in and look like he's being playing regular football like Ake, that's a very valuable asset. If he's happy to be a squad player, he stays for me
That is the question.
Is he happy to be a squad player? He may have even less playing time next season.

For a player that hardly gets a game whenever he is called upon he rarely if ever lets the team down. He doesn't need 3 or 4 games to get going he just slots in and gives another reliable 6/7 out of 10 performance. Player's like Nathan are why we've won so much, offering great support for the squad and never complains.

Wasn't very good for most of the season, partly due to injuries or lack of playing time. When he had to start after the injuries to Gvardiol and Dias in January, he had some average/poor performances, e.g., at United.

But he's been really good recently and put in a top performance yesterday. Think he will leave, because he's getting older and his injuries problems are not likely to disappear. Has been a top servant to the club. Reis will replace him.

Consummate professional in everything he does. Yesterday showed he can still perform at a good/top prem level which was nice to see as he looked like he’d declined off a cliff on most other appearances this year

Will get a nice last move and hopefully nice contract to go with. Served the club well.

Can only assume he’s actually fit again and back to looking reliable. Earlier games in the season he looked like he could hardly run.

One of my favourites during the treble winning team always solid, did well yesterday and probably his best game for us in a while looked surprisingly nippy

I wouldn't mind him staying and being the elder statesman of the team and he can still be an asset when required by injury.

But up to the team and him.

Scott Carson needs a replacement and I can think of no one better than Nathan Ake.

If he’s happy to stay and see out his contract, it is a no-brainer. I thought he might have asked for a transfer last summer or in January to give him more of a chance in the World Cup, but you can tell from the photos of training and parties he loves being part of this club. I remember Pep saying is one of the most popular members of the squad. Looking back over the last few years, he has often made goal-line clearances and created chances for others, and scored a few too. Shame he had such a long time injured but I would definitely keep him as back up for Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly Ait Nouri and whilst Vitor Ries gets used to the Premier League. He is a very versatile left sided defender who gives Pep plenty of options in rotation or when others are suspended or injured.
